I want to preface this by saying that Jody Hedlund is one of my favorite authors. This series was just not for me. The self loathing in this book was over the top and got old fast. Sophie was selfish and never really grew up.

Finally we get to discover what happened to Sophie after she disappeared! The girl we meet as the book begins is not the same one we last saw. Not only is she older but life has hardened her. Beneath it all though her kind heart still shines through, in the way she cares for Olivia and Nicholas and in other little ways. She had a lot of past hurt and loss to work through and I enjoyed seeing the way she matured as the book went on.
Reinhold has appeared frequently in the previous books of this series and I’ve always liked him. He works hard without complaint and strives to be a better man than his father. He had some personal demons to wrestle with but he had a good heart that just wanted the best for those he cared about.
I wasn’t sure about them as a couple due to his history with Sophie’s sisters but you could see how well matched they were as the story unfolded and in the end they were just what each other needed.
I really loved the Duff family with their big personalities and bigger hearts!
The end of this book made me quite happy and I loved seeing everything come together! A wonderful conclusion to another fantastic series from Jody Hedlund!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Sophie, a young adult, poses as an older teenager to take an orphan train out of town after her boyfriend was involved in murder.  Sophie takes with her two young children she's taken care of - a little boy and a little girl she pretends are her younger siblings.  Upon reaching the mid-west, Sophie is separated from the children.  She runs into an old family friend, with whom the romantic plot occurs.

While the plot was interesting, part of the book felt unfinished.  I wanted to see more to show why the lead characters fall in love.  I get that they're physically attracted to each other, but I'd have appreciated more from the emotional-attraction side.  I think the book just tried to do too many plots in too few pages.  That said, it was still a nice, escapist Friday evening read.

The third and final book in my most recent "fluffy fiction" binge.
It was a good wrap up to the series, all the ends tied up nice and neat.
Not the worst "Christian romance" series I've ever read, but I think I've had my fill of them for the next few months.

This was way favorite book in the Orphan Train series. After the previous book started out a little slow I was pleasantly surprised with how I was instantly drawn into this story. Searching For You is basically Sophie’s story. It gives us a little insight into what happened and why she stayed hidden. This was a great ending to a great series. In fact this maybe my favorite Jody Hedlund book.

The Orphan Train series is something I recommend if you’re looking for some good historical fiction. Yes it’s Christian but to me at least it didn’t seem to preachy.

Searching for You is a gripping story of love, want, and need. Life's choices aren't always one way or another, the path is winding and the way difficult to discern without nurturing guidance. Despite her youthful naivete, I admire Sophie's gumption and determination to do what (she thinks) is best for them all. Reinhold is one of the good guys without a doubt. He's not perfect but he acknowledges that fact and then punishes himself for it, bless his heart.

Friends, family, and affection take center stage in this thrilling conclusion to the Orphan Train series. Hedlund brings this time period to life from the dark metropolitan alleys to the wide-open Midwestern farmlands. I highly recommend this book and its sisters and they are all at home on my all-time favorites shelf!

A perfect finale to the Orphan Train series. This set is officially my favorite Jody series. I loved seeing Reinhold and Sophie fall in love and seeing how everything worked out for Sophie and her sisters. This story(and the whole series) kept me absolutely enthralled. Highly recommend this series!
