Oh! What a ride this book was. Tumultuous and stormy and yet so heartwarming and joyful at the same time. And of course I wouldn’t expect any less from a book by Carissa Broadbent.
This duology for the House of Shadow raised the bar even higher than where Rhain and Oraya had left it. Mische and Asar, you’re now my favorite fantasy couple!
I loved this interpretation of a grumpy x sunshine MC pair. You really get to see what life journeys led the two to their current dispositions and how at their heart they really are two twin souls that look different only on the surface.
Beautiful prose as always.
“Yes, I was speechless. Because what words existed to describe that? I said, at last, “He makes me want a happy ending.”
“{She has always done that,} the eye said. {Analyzed what she is too small to understand.}”
If you like romantasy and you haven’t picked up a Crowns of Nyaxia book yet, what are you waiting for? Go get a copy NOW!!

Carissa Broadbent only writes masterpieces.
We got way more into the world building and the realm of the gods in this book. Asar and Mische are incredibly resilient and determined characters; I love them so much. There are too many good quotes.
“There is no map for the path we must walk in times like this. But we must seize the chances that are given to us.”
“I turned back to the battle at hand. And I kept fighting. Through all of it, I kept fighting.”
“Strength is measured by the sacrifices we refuse to make.”
“FATE IS FORGED.”
I typically love to make predictions, but I just had to let this book happen to me. The stage is set for an epic duology conclusion.

Oh boy it hurt to rate this less 5 stars but I'll give my reasons
I'll start with the positives. As always Mische is a beautiful badass. She won't stop fighting for justice and fighting for what she believes her heart is right. I absolutely love that she's a yapper and she's so unapologetic about it.
Asar really is that guy! He is such a gigantic lover boy and would rip the world in half just to have Mische by his side. You know that quote "Barbie has a great day every day but Ken only has a good day if Barbie looks at him" thats literally Asar with Mische.
Their whole relationship is just beautiful. They are so desperately afraid of losing each other that they Defy all odds to get back to one another.
LUCE IS BEST GIRL! I spent the whole book afraid something was going to happen to her. I love that she is so devoted to Asar and Asar to her. But I also love that she's become so devoted to Mische.
I love learning about all the different Gods in this series. Every book brings something new to the surface about these Gods. They're so unbelievably flawed yet people still follow them. I find it intriguing.
Now onto why I couldn't give this book 5*. I feel like it went on way too long. It could easily have had 100 pages shaved off. I kept thinking "this is the end. Okay this has to be the end. This has to be it now." and it just kept going. Don't get me wrong I found the plot enjoyable but it didn't 100% grip me and I feel like some bits were really dragged out. A real shame because I have loved every other book in this series so deeply.
I am excited to see where books 5 and 6 will take us and excited for a new narrator! I will miss Mische and Asar just as I missed Raihn and Oraya.
