It was a good ending but sooo long I got bored halfway through ngl but I’m glad they got a happy ending

This book was crazy and I didn’t even read the first one. These men are absolutely obsessed. The amount of groveling in this book since there were 4 guys was off the fucking charts and I was eating it up. They find out she was pregnant and they were all told lies about her cheating soooo good.

Ugh. Just went on and on. Smut wasn’t even good.

Pros
Sufficient remorse for me
Self Reflection
No BBS
Heroine was not celibate and most of harem were (it worked this time)
Hs were distinctive enough for me to remember who was whom

Cons
Time jumps were confusing the ebooks dealt with them with italicised text but this didm’t work with the audiobook
Too long. I fell asleep for an hour during this audiobook but I could still follow what was happening.

Spoiler Also wtf kind of security setup did Veritas have? That was a total fail on their part. Van owned the security company that monitored her house? Also I get that Van was “Trevor” and that’s how he got into the party but surely someone wearing a hoody to child’s birthday party in hot weather should have stood out??? Also how did he bring a bomb with him? Just wow.

So much groveling!! At first I was hoping that she would resist a little longer, but by the time she saw them I already wanted her to forgive them. I loved these men so much, and I felt like they all got the ending they deserved!!

The first book was such a good start…the 2nd book dropped the ball. There are so many editing errors and unrealistic scenarios/logistics. This stuff takes away from the enjoyment of the story.
1. The price of things - $50 for 2 ice creams? Where the hell does the author live that this is a reality?
2. Tequila - it’s 1 tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila - FLOOR for a reason. You don’t just sit around taking shot after shot after shot of tequila while also drinking straight from the bottle without wishing for death. Has the author ever even drank?
3. Kieran found out about his mom weeks before but did nothing? Didn’t confront her? Cut her off? Just ignored it until his hand was forced to deal with her? I think not.
4. How in the hell did Asher just get close enough to grab Lyric? Nothing about the way that scene was described makes that even remotely possible.
5. Liv couldn’t get to her sooner because Van blew up her car? She was already in the park!!!! He didn’t take her anywhere so what does her car have to do with anything? Security breach on the outside? BS - Archer had already told them what was happening and where they needed to be. He left the call connected to HER PHONE! WHAT TOOK THEM SO LONG?
6. She wakes up in the hospital and has a whole ass conversation about Van without DEMANDING to know if her daughter is ok? Yeah, right.
7. Moving vans just show up within hours of them making the decision…just like that? In what world?
8. At one point, River said she’d given up going slow…then, literally, two sentences later she said they were going slow. WTH?
9. You have a stalker for 3 years and everyone just ignores it when Lyric says she hears taps on her bedroom window? Sure.

There’s so many more situations like this that just give you pause and take you out of the story which is problematic. Also, so much unnecessary information about characters that don’t matter. Who cares about Journey and her husbands? I can’t stand when an author tries to set up another book but it’s so forced and unnatural to the current story. All the relationships with the ancillary characters were confusing.

And, of course, it was Van….the fact that ‘elite super spies’ missed that for 3 years. Come on!! That’s giving Van WAY TOO MUCH credit.

The first book and the premise of the story makes it worth the read but the second book needed much, much better editing. The quality of story writing between book 1 and book 2 was pretty drastic. There was so much repetitive, unnecessary retelling that made the second book watered down and too long.

I know a lot of people commented on there not being enough groveling. To some extent, I agree. But, there we so many other issues with the writing that made that part so much less of an issue for me. There is mention of them hashing things out but you never get to see the weight of them understanding what she went through. All the regret is fluffy. The second book needed RAW emotions and depth. Skip all the stupid stalker stuff and dive into the REALNESS of what happened.

This was a good duet, it was slow the first book. If you can get through the slow parts. It is a good story.

this was honestly pretty disappointing. here are my main points of content in it
1: asher did not beg enough and everything was forgiven WAY too easily considering he literally sent someone who is a known predator (taking videos without her knowledge, setting up a literal ATTACK on her) to her house and left her there with them at the end of book one
2: all the boys especially kieran and asher kept blaming their decisions to leave and asher’s decision to lie to the guys on kieran’s mom gloria but when they did this they were literally like 21/22 they were grown enough to know what they were doing so it’s frustrating that the kept blaming it on someone else no matter how awful she was they still did something bad and even when trying to make up it was like “i’m so sorry i know that i did this horrible thing but also it’s not all my fault cause my mommy manipulated me” like no take responsibility for your actions and understand that you were a grown adult at the time as well
3: the whole stalker thing was easy to guess right away that it was the boyfriend. also there was so many inconsistencies within the whole climax of the book here are my WTFS with that
1: why is it that asher and river were able to run to the location lyric was at yet it took sooo long for help that was called WHILE THEY WERE RUNNING THERE to get to the place considering they now had a heads up like liv mentioned needing a car to get there but they were inside an amusement park and river and asher were able to run it??
2: i feel like altering and then bringing up the party again was a bit unnecessary like we already understood he was a horrible person why did we need to reopen this HORRIBLE wound for her
3: the whole veritas agency that is apparently SO powerful and amazing yet they couldn’t trace the first “stalker” back to Van as he mentioned he was his COUSIN??? or the fact that the security company was vans like how did they not make that connection when he was a suspect to begin with??? also how did they not know he was in the states and kept saying he was “still in europe” like again they are supposed to be this all powerful agency yet can’t confirm someone’s location?? they were also so thoughtless like when they found out her phone was gone why didn’t they take down the cameras, change the password, the company, etc. like there was so many things that just did not line up with what these people were supposed to be

overall just not what I was expecting and a bit of a let down but at least I have closure from the first book cliffhanger
