this just falls into absolutely so many fantasy tropes but it still makes for enjoyable reading. can't say that i necessarily care deeply for any of the characters, but maybe that will change as i read more of these. they make for an enjoyable and quick read, but not necessarily something super profound or life-changing.

Almost didn’t read cause I didn’t love the first, but TSAIS kept me enthralled from start to finish. Piper’s writing improved, and I’m really looking forward to book 3.
