Yeah I can’t believe I didn’t read this when I was younger because I would’ve devoured it then too. This was such a fantastic read, I kept wanting more & the messaging is so important. Thoroughly impressed can’t wait for the next ones + the movies!
i just think more people need to read this and realise just how many things they are currently watching that are being exploited just for their entertainment or they do absolutely nothing about and stay silent.
fast-paced
A good yarn.
I'm usually put off by what I would call premise stories, ie where the plot is centred around one concept/hook; in this case the Hunger Games. However, the Hunger Games is such an entertaining idea that I didn't mind. The story is, for the most part, exciting and fast paced. One thing I really liked was the idea of curating the contestants into fake characters to be broadcast to the rest of society and how the romance played into this.
I got a bit bored towards the end and there were a few things I found underwhelming. I think this was partly because I saw the movie ages ago and could remember a few of the key plot points. Overall it was a good story and it was nice to have an easy read for a change.

I started and stopped this book I don't even know how many times, but finally at the insistence of, well, EVERYONE (and after seeing the movie) I gave it a serious try. I still found that it took me quite a long time to get into (which must be why I never made it past the first couple of chapters) and I never found that it hooked me in a "can't put it down" kind of way, but I did enjoy it. And while I ended the movie not caring about the story going on, after reading it I definitely do want to read the rest of the series.
