If you liked the first book in this series, this one is just as charming and sexy.
I really liked the different point of view with someone coming out of purity culture but thought we could’ve used a little more inner turmoil on filming a soft core porno after being a child of seventh heaven outside of “I don’t want to look silly.” I know there would have been a lot more inner turmoil on just being naked in front of a camera.
I listened to the audiobook which had great narrators. I love that the hero is a man with a “dad bod.” Husky men deserve more attention in contemporary romance.
I also thought Winnie should’ve had some backlash on telling literally everyone else she was pregnant BEFORE the baby daddy. She really kept him at arms length the entire second half of the novel and I thought she needed to own up to some of that.
Truly, this book had a third act break up and grovel that I was satisfied as being the ending around 75% in. Not sure we needed all of that about her parents.

When her career takes a turn, Winnie finds herself on the set of steamy holiday romance movie, which differs greatly from the Christian films she usually stars in. Her costar Kallum is someone Winnie knows from her past, and she decides to use his sexual expertise to her advantage.
I love books written by a duo, and the Murphy and Simone collab is such a great one. As expected, this was full of steam and a full cast of quirky and fun characters. Coming from an interfaith marriage, the conversations surrounding the two religions and differing holiday traditions was also great.
What to expect:
-Forced proximity
-Current co-stars
-Opposites attract
-“Teach me” trope
-Hidden disability (narcolepsy)
-Jewish rep

I’m glad I picked this book back up. I put it down around 20%, but picked it back up today and sped through the rest. A nice mostly lighthearted read to listen to while working on projects. The spice is spicy. The epilogue is a lovely bow on the book.

Thoughts: Such a brain candy holiday read. Forgot how much I love these characters and this town. Had me cracking up with the QVC price and website of items! Fireball in a box with a spigot is crazy! 🤣 Can’t wait to read the next one.
