If I hadn’t read a string of “group snowed in and there’s a killer among them” aka new “Clue” books this year already, I might have liked it more.

I also thought the killer was obvious/predictable (no

Feels like a 3.5 rounded up to 4. There was some great cat and mouse going on and the unfurling of the mystery was fun. Could be a little slow at times and a tad heavy handed with how often she said ‘one by one’. Otherwise a fun read

This was definitely not my favorite Ruth Ware book. I will admit I kept reading it, but mostly because it was like watching a train wreck and I couldn't look away.

I didn't care for the characters. They were almost all spoiled brats with no depth. The chef at the chalet was a hidden gem with potential, but you don't realize that until far later in the book than you should, and by then the book is pretty much over.

This is a locked room mystery without much mystery. I suggest taking a pass -- unless you are stranded in a ski chalet and want to create a few nightmares for entertainment.

The plot was pretty tight, but it was the prose that really drew me in. I got sucked in every time I picked it up, and I liked that doubt was cast in pretty much every direction, but once the clues started adding up, you didn’t have to wait too long for the reveal / it didn’t drag on.

I wanted to stop at 30 pages but made myself get to 50 and then I was interested. Then it got boring again, then I was interested again, etc. I did finish reading it to figure out who done it but it was clear from the beginning and actually not worth it. The writing is just not good. It switches POVs, but each chapter is almost exactly the same as the previous chapter, instead of moving along with the story. So repetitive. Lots of unnecessary details. Could've been at least 100 pages shorter. Idk I'm just mad I wasted my own time.
