as i rate this i am a little conflicted as i do love the story and the way it ended i did feel like this was a little slow at a lot of parts and though it may have been necessary it took me a while to read it because of that.

in the end it was really good and i liked or related to a lot of characters i will never go skiing if i can help it.

A few things...
1. This is a fast read, and the beginning of the novel isn't nearly as slow as I feared after reading The Woman in Cabin 10. Still, there are just as many characters haphazardly thrown into the text early on as there are in The Woman in Cabin 10.
2. There are seamless transitions between the two narrators. The use of two narrators was fantastic for this book. Sometimes the time overlaps and we see the same event through both women's eyes, other times the transitions are continuous and the story pushes forward. Love that.
3. The end is neat and tidy. You don't have to wonder what happens next, which is a positive thing for me.
4. I feel like too much is revealed too soon, and it's easy to figure out what's going on long before it's actually revealed. This takes a lot of the excitement out of the book.
5. Maybe this is my fault for picking out a book that takes place at a ski resort when I've never been skiing in my life, but I felt like I needed a glossary for all of the niche skiing terms that were used.

Pretty predictable but I'm always a sucker for a murder/thriller set in a ski lodge/chalet where the characters are stuck because of avalanche/storm and someone and/or many characters are killed off.

Easy, quick book that I finished it in less than 24 hours.

Thank you to Goodreads for my copy of this book for an honest review. I’m a huge fan of Ruth Ware and could not wait for this to come out but it was in many ways a disappointment. I echo other reviews in saying that it was actually boring. It didn’t have any jaw dropping twists just different avenues of the story to explore. None of the characters were particularly like-able and of course all of them had “something to hide” which I thought would be explored more considering the book was almost 400 pages. I was disappointed that it was told from only two characters perspectives when there are really 8 main characters. I’m happy that I read the book but it won’t go down as one of my all time favorites. If you are going to have an introduction to Ruth Ware I wouldn’t suggest this book.

The story here takes place in an exclusive Ski chalet in the French Alps. Erin and Danny are the Chalet staff and their guests for this week are the rich and entitled staff and founders of the latest new app craze ‘Snoop’. An app which allows you to listen along live to other users music stream, including that of your favourite celebrities (actually a clever premise for an app, I’d use it!). It is apparent from the get go that all is not happy in the Snoop camp and after an initial first meeting involving the words ‘corporate buyout’ things start to take a turn for the worse when one of the co-founders goes missing whilst out on the ski slopes. From here, following an avalanche that sees the guests get cut off from the rest of the world with no form of communication, they start to fall one by one. This is the third book I have read from Ruth Ware and unfortunately I felt it lacked the twists and turns of my previous reads by her. The killer was very obvious from the off and the plot twist I was expecting never came. There were an awful lot of characters to try and keep track of, several were definitely surplus to requirements... I’m looking at you Carl. This definitely reminded me of The Guest List by Lucy Foley, but lacked the plot twists I was looking for. Having said all that I did still enjoy reading this book and easily read it to the end quite quickly.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks to Ruth Ware and the publishers.
