I always enjoy a dysfunctional family story that also has a bit of heart, so this story of a family who gathers before their matriarch's death really worked for me.

I really enjoyed this book with all its twists and turns. It felt very real and messy and complicated, but also beautiful and relatable. I liked how strong and unapologetic the female characters were and all the family dynamics. It felt a bit drawn out and long at times, but I was engaged in the story from start to finish.

If you can get through the first (and very slow) 100 pages it’s a really good story and the characters become more and more loveable and intersting

This had a promising start, but the kids quickly got on my nerves.

If Dava Shastri is going to die, she is going to do it on her own terms. Calling her family together & spending her last days reminiscing, and of course releasing the news of her death early so she can see what people say about her.

I enjoyed the storyline and the character interactions. Siblings fight and love and defend and disagree, & this story shows that. So often siblings are either too perfect of best friends or hate each other and never speak. Personally me and mine are more like the siblings in this read.

There were parts that were too detailed and drug on for me & a few parts that gor repetitive.  Some of the kids & Dava herself came across entitled and whiney at first. Throughout the story they grow a bit though.

Beautifully written, I just easily got bored
