It's Okay

This one really gave you a lot of insight into Troi and Ryker's relationship. I love reading about what you didn't see on-screen.

Riker’s characterisation seemed a bit off at times, but can be excused by him being younger/older than we see in the show.

Some tropes were a bit cliché, but I was positively surprised by the direction the plot took. Definitely felt like a Star Trek episode.

Good story covering the foundation of Will & Deanna’s relationship and the history. Enjoyed the temporal aspect.

Listened to this via Audible during a long drive home. Definitely a fun read, and it was nice to hear it from Jonathan Frakes. He does a quote passable JLP.

I see where the author was trying to go with this book, but the execution was meh for me. It read like a fantasy p*rn of Deanna’s allure and Riker’s masculinity in a power struggle. It’s trek, so I’m still going to read the second one though. Pretty easy read.

I passed this book a few times at my local Half Priced Books and always thought it looked a bit cheesy so walked on by.  However, after watching the final couple episodes of Picard where Riker calls Troi Imzadi a few times I had to get this book and I was not disappointed.  Is this book on par with the mirror universe book The Sorrows of Empire or McCoy: The Provenance Of Shadows? No, but it has its own merit and place.  It is a fluffy, light, romance book in the best of sense - it is the Next Generation version of T'hy'la.  Here is where the closet romantic in me or perhaps a young/navie look at love will come through but this book made me appreciate that some love takes time to develop and that Riker and Troi were supposed to be together.  A cheesy, fun read that should be gone into knowing it will not be deep or philosophical but satisfying none the less.
