story of Easton and Aaron
This is a second chance romance, featuring Easton and Aaron, and is a standalone book.
Easton wakes up in a rehab centre after a car accident that left him in a coma, waking up to the news his mother had passed away. Aaron is assigned to Easton to help him gain the ability to speak again. It’s crush-at-first-sight for a seventeen year old Easton.
Unfortunately Aaron leaves with a man who swept him off his feet. Eight years later, Aaron returns to their small town after the passing of his husband - he is broke, broken and a shell of the man he once was.
Aaron hears about Easton still being in small town and tries to reconnect with some flimsy rationale but Easton doesn’t want anything to do with it until he realises just how broken Aaron is.
This book was amazing!!!!! I don’t know what it is about broken boys, but my heart immediately goes out to them. These two together were so adorable and hot, great chemistry. I loved that they rebuilt their friendship and then started a relationship.
The suspense aspect of this book was so well done, I’m not going to spoil it but I will say, read this book, it’s worth it. I want to spill the beans but I won’t. I could read it over and over. It’s now a fav. I love Dianna Roman’s writing style.
Things to expect in this book are:
Standalone book
MM romance
Small town
Second chance
Speech Pathologist
Former patient
Age gap (33/25)
Hurt / Comfort
Vocally impaired MC
Living with grief
Crushing hard
Friends to more
Spicy times
Olive oil play
Suspense
Sweet HEA

Easton was a teenager recovering from an accident that put him in a coma, when he developed a crush on Aaron, the young speech therapist assigned to help him speak again. After Aaron abruptly moved to another state, Easton felt abandoned and angry.
8 years later, a heartbroken Aaron is back, sending Easton's life into a tailspin.
I adore Easton and Aaron as a couple. Easton worked so hard to get to where he is, but still has so much anger, trauma, and self-esteem issues to work through. Aaron...he pissed me off a couple of times with how ignorant (read: Stupid, Selfish) he was about Easton's feelings, but I loved his brightness and all-around "goodness".
The spiciness factor: I'm going to give it a 3/5, for lack of detail, but it was nice nonetheless. Not a big deal if you're not picky about that kind of thing!
"Knowing you’re out there knocking the socks off the world and not hiding because you don’t sound like you used to will make this random, boring guy in some medical office who used to annoy the heck out of you really freaking proud to say he knew you once.”
*ARC review, my opinions are my own!*

standalone | Maine | MM | patient/tattoo artist x speech pathologist | age gap (8 yrs) | then & now | second chance | grief | mental health | american sign language (ASL) | puzzles | vers mmcs | christmas spirit | bathtub scene | mystery/suspense | HEA
Swooooooned real hard for Aaron and Easton. Their story starts with "Then" where you get to meet Easton as a patient at the Hampton Hills Rehabilitation Center in Maine where he finds himself obsessed with Aaron, his assigned speech pathologist. Fast forward to "Now" and we get a physically healed, but emotionally wrecked Easton and a cinnamon roll Aaron. I won't say too much more about what happens - outside of the themes above - because you just have to pick this up and read it but you'll get a great balance of banter, open door spice (some closed door moments as well), and mystery/suspense. I did NOT anticipate the last 20% of the book going in that direction, but the HEA is resulted in was perfect for this plot and storyline. A great read that had some seriously swoony highlights!
“Sometimes being broken just means you’re missing your other piece. I don’t fit anywhere better than with you, Easton."
