I'm not sure what I really expected from this.. I suppose I was hoping for a little more insight on how he turned himself around, on his sobriety and veganism and mental health. It was written very straight forward and honestly - which I give kudos for. But overall, I think maybe I just don't like Steve-O as a person.. a lot of this book seemed like a humble-brag, or talking about *other peoples' sobriety/issues/etc. At least he's honest about being a braggart and a bit of a jerk.
I struggled to concentrate or enjoy this - but as someone who used to watch Jackass in high school with friends, I was hoping the nostalgia would help. As someone who's recently sober, I was hoping to gain some wisdom from someone who was so deep into addiction.
Can't recommend this book in good faith, but it was kinda neat to see what he'd been up to since I was in high school.

I really liked this book. I think that although Steve-O is definitely flawed it is refreshing to hear someone point out their own flaws and account for them. It is even more refreshing to hear someone talk about how they are changing or what what are doing to change so that they can be a better human being. There is a lot of cursing and lewd language in this book but that is to be expected considering the author and it didnt bother me. I listened to the audiobook (read by Steve-O) and instead of it feeling like a memoir of some kind it just feel like Steve-O giving advice and telling stories about his life. Refreshing, introspective and written like having a conversation, I enjoyed this.
Having had no exposure to Steveo prior to reading this book i was continually surprised at how thoughtful and insightful he was. Lots of good things to take from reading it.

I am such a sucker for a celebrity memoir and Steve-O’s latest memoir was no exception.
I found quite a few nuggets of wisdom in his writing, but my favorite takeaway from A Hard Kick in the Nuts was having a new appreciation for Steve-O. He is so self-aware. You have to admire his continual efforts to improve himself, make amends, and be open about his sobriety journey.
I definitely recommend for celebrity memoir lovers and J*ck*as fans alike.
