I am in pain.
“To you who talk too much and sing too loud and cry too often and love something in life more than you should.”
“It was incomprehensible that the sun still rose. That it could bear to. That it dared to.”
“You’re the reason why we dream impossible dreams in this town.”
“Never trust anyone who doesn’t have something in their life that they love beyond measure.”
“This hurts too much to touch with words.”
“Sometimes the greatest leadership is knowing the way home.”

As I finish this trilogy that started with Bear Town, Us Against Them and The Winners, I’m reminded how much better my life is because of the books that I’ve read.
So many good things, hard things, and real things come out of this trilogy. Heartache, brutality, greed, grief, becoming an adult sooner than any child should, the love of a sport, the ugliness of what sports do to people, love, family, and friendship.
I feel sad that this story has come to an end, and yet so lucky to have had the opportunity to experience it.

i do think this is a lot better than the 2nd one but it definitely did not need to be this long. but also i could just be feeling that way because it took me like 300 pages to remember how i felt about these characters and that actually yes this book is going to make me sad. it is a lot of just the same story repeated though and a lot of forced foreshadowing that seemed unnecessary
I told myself a while ago. 4 stars for good books, 5 stars for books I love.
I wanted to give this book 4 stars, there was something missing for me. But at the same time, I loved the people in this book. I loved them so very much. And if you love all the people doesn’t that mean you love the book.

Thanks to Simon & Schuster for an advance reading copy of this book through NetGalley. I did like this novel but not as much as the first two in the trilogy, which I loved. They are all set in two tiny little towns in the icy forests of Sweden that are racked with a towering rivalry centering around hockey. The books are about community, about the ripple effects of good deeds and bad ones, especially acts of violence and sexual assault.
Why I didn't like this one as much: the author kept telling us how various young people in the book would wind up famous and successful, and it was annoying. Is that why we should be interested in young people in small obscure places? Are the young people from small obscure places who interest us bound to be famous and important some day? Also I didn't like the ending of this book, its implications about how to combat mass shootings.
But overall I always enjoy reading Frederik Backman.

BENJIIIIIII 😭😭😭 This absolutely ruined me and was everything I wanted at the same time. This little hockey town has my whole heart, and I’m sad to say goodbye to this trilogy.
