convinced that this book was written by a 13-year-old on wattpad. who else would call their male characters such stupid names and consider the career of a neurosurgeon sexy instead of a red flag. permanently scarred by the stethoscope scene and horrified that apparently some people find scrubs hot. sincerely, a traumatised med student

A pretty solid 3 stars, I think the book deserves hype but not as much as it got. I was expecting like a 5/5 starbook and honestly it wasn't that... I did however enjoy how well Colleen Hoover is able to make you hate someone so much, and how much your rooting for lily, the protagonist, and really sticking to her side. Someone also really needs to take away the italics key from Ms Hoover, because though I thought the idea of the letter being a way to show lily's past, I found them really one sided and difficult to read, and I found it really annoying to have to try and understand it. Generally decent, but way too overhyped. Not the best, not bad either.

i don't think this book has lived up to its hype. don't get me wrong—this book is definitely good, a bit overhyped to be exact. i loved how straightforward the story was. it gave you details but not too much that it would make you feel bored. the characters were amazing too but somehow, i think it's overhyped. i don't know, maybe it's just because this book isn't for me but 4 stars are a good enough rating for a book recommended by a lot of people on booktok/bookstagram imo

I genuinely adored this book! what happened later really upset me,
the fact Ryle hurt Lily multiple times and even tried to rape her hurt my heart
Hoover really was amazing at expressing how manipulative abusers can be and how despite their actions you still want to forgive them, it was beautifully written and so real

Holy check the content warnings. There's a lot. But easily one of my favorite books I've ever read.
