Now the conclusion to this story was a bit all over the place. Rush got a lot of advice and each time I thought "Oh this is what will give him perspective" but it did not. I do understand what the authors were trying to do with the whole you do not know what you have till it is gone aspect, however, i do feel that the execution fell short. I also think that he gave up a little too much in the end when he could have had the same result preserving some of it. And of course is the big secret. Although very realistic and expected, there was something lacking.
That said, I am glad that I finished the book and received the HEA at the end. They are great characters and a compelling story with unbelievable circumstances. But it was like the could not catch a break no matter what, even at the end. I wonder if there will be another that will amp up the drama to bring closure with a little thing called Karma. I always did wonder how the Sale of the Nursing Home never came back to bite them in the ass.

This is one of those duets I think could have - and should have - been a single novel. Being pushed into two books really stretched the characters and plot in a way that I don’t think worked.
Gia and Rush have to come to terms with the changes in their life, mainly Gia pregnant with another man’s baby (perhaps the worst man it could have been). Rush runs all over hell and creation to figure out the answer he needs - can he move on and still be the father to someone else’s baby?
Gia and Rush right off the bat acted differently than in the first book. Gia was no longer straightforward and caused a whole host of problems because she didn’t communicate like she would have in Book 1. Rush was impulsive and questionable in his interactions with other woman, and suddenly didn’t know if Gia was worth more of a burden from his estranged dad and brother. His actions just left a lot of plot holes because of his carelessness (the woman from the bar, his best friend in Arizona, his brother’s wife) and I didn’t feel like they even needed to happen in the first place. Even Gia’s book deal fell flat. The best character in this book was Gia’s dad, and he was barely in it.
I didn’t commit to the unexpected pregnancy trope when I started reading this duet, and this book just took one of my least favorite tropes and dug it into an even deeper hole. While the novel ended on a sweet note, I really didn’t need this novel to get me there, I was already in love with the Gia and Rush in Rebel Heir. If anything, it made me love them less.
In this case, I don’t think the summit was worth the journey.

It was fine. I generally like Vi Keeland, and this was certainly enjoyable to listen too during my Covid booster sick day (obvs its worth the crummy day, but I have had reactions to all 3 shots and it is unpleasant.) That said, there were a lot of holes. As usual, the villains were a little too Snidely Whiplash and the good men a little too good. I don't need a lot of subtlety, but a little really helps. Also, for a guy who thinks only assholes eat caviar or drink scotch (as opposed to people with developed palates) Rush's choice to live in the Hamptons was pretty freaking questionable. All in all short and intermittently fun, and sometimes that is enough. A 2.5

And then there was the 20 minute labor and birth, as if this woman's birth canal was a Great Adventure water slide. In addition to being absurd, that really made me feel a little pissed off.
Alright, that was pretty good. The sex scenes could've been more fleshed out (or even mentioned at all more) considering the whole premise of the duet was a "hot summer fling." I did LOVE Rush though. He met all the alpha qualities without seeming like an overbearing, condescending, hyper-masculine, unemotional prick. It was the perfect blend in my eyes.
All of Gia's crying started to piss me off but hey, hormones right?

I really enjoyed Rebel Heart! I was able to read them back to back & it really felt like just like one long book. It all flowed seamlessly together. Gia & Rush had so much to work through in this one and I loved watching them come to terms with the pregnancy & each other. The ending was perfect for these characters!
I liked this book? I mean I did. But the flow of it didn’t totally work for me. Not sure why some parts even happened...love these two authors but for me it just missed the full connection and purpose mark. Lifetime fan though and can’t wait for more.
This obviously wasn't as light and full of banter as the first one, but I just had to know how Rush and Gia would if possible get passed this.
Loved the conclusion of Rush and Gia’s story. When the bad boys fall, they fall hard.
