A quick read, for sure. High points include believable characters with equally realistic growth and an interesting dual narrative. Some things were left unwritten that I feel would have led to better closure and a more complete ending. Still, despite a few lacking elements, I really enjoyed this novel and would recommend it.

tv show devoured (at least the first half)
adventurous emotional lighthearted fast-paced

This could totally change because I just read it, but as of now I have to give it this rating. I loved the Delirium series and thought it was beyond amazing (it's actually my favorite series) but this one just seems to fall short. The concept is wonderful, and I think the book has so much potential that it could reach out to. I like how she focused around the idea of fear and how it affects us and our decisions. However, how that fear was described and executed, was not as great as the idea itself. I want to love this book but currently I can't. It wasn't nearly as emotionally pulling or grabbing as Delirium and just left me more empty.

I thought Oliver did a great job with developing Heather's character- I loved how she made Heather a strong, independent, tall and somewhat clumsy character, despite being one of the weakest character throughout most of the book. I also thought the idea of the game itself was really interesting, and at times, kind of scary and freaking. It was mind-boggling how much power the game had, and how much the game controlled the lives of all the students.

1.5 ★ i really hope the tv show is better, because damn... every single character in the book suck and the narrative is just so freaking flat. it's impressive.

This was a hard book to put down, but it lost me at the end. Would've been 4 stars if the conclusion hadn't felt a little cheap.
