Sehr sehr spannend. Hab bisschen gebraucht um reinzukommen, aber dann war es mal wieder super. Sehr zu empfehlen. Viele Plottwists.

This book bears very little resemblance to the show, and I loved it. It's a little bit hard to follow, and there are a lot of minor characters that feel like they either don't make much of a difference to the plot or will never be important again, but the world expansion is really satisfying, and there's lots of character growth that feels earned and interesting. I appreciated how much the book highlighted that although the power players may have thought the war was over, the commonfolk knew better. This series continues to be brutal (although this is definitely not as dark of a book as the third book), and I continue to enjoy it immensely!

A bit of a slow burn, but a great book. I loved seeing the varied POVs from around the Seven Kingdoms, and GRRM proves again that he is a master of character.

EDIT: I bumped it up to a five. Aside from Storm, this is the best character work I’ve read in a book. We get fantastic dialogue, inner voice, and POVs from cultures and characters we hardly ever see. The King’s Landing and Ironborn chapters were among my favs.
