Toen ik een nieuw boek aan het kiezen was om te lezen, had ik twee zaken waar ik naar op zoek was: een kort boek dat me helemaal in z'n ban kon houden. Uiteindelijk koos ik dit boek en kort, maar krachtig vat het perfect samen.
Het is ook een genre dat ik nog nooit had gelezen: een erotische thriller, maar op de één of andere manier klopte dit boek helemaal. Het hoofdpersonage was fucked up, maar haar aparte beroep (camgirl) en haar aparte psyche (ze heeft zichzelf opgesloten zodat ze niet zou kunnen toegeven aan de drang om te moorden) werken. Het is niet zo'n boek waarin sexy times wordt gestoken omdat sex toevallig goed verkoopt. Ook het thriller aspect paste en sloot perfect aan bij alles, hoewel mijn haren er van rechtop gingen staan (pedofilie... ugh).
Aangenaam verrast hierdoor. Ik overweeg deel twee en drie in deze reeks nu ook te lezen.

Essentially a story about a woman going on and on about how she's a psychopath, whining about her need to kill and how she locks herself up to keep other people safe because other people's safety is definitely something that psychopaths fret over >__>
This felt like it was written by a completely normal person who really has no idea how psychopaths think. I'm not a psychopath so I can't say exactly why it sounded so fake... but I have read a lot of stories with psychopathic serial killer main characters and they all somehow sounded a lot more genuine than this.
Also, I didn't realize that the story would lean so heavily into the erotica. Anyone who chooses to read this book based on the description is looking for a creepy, unsettling psychological thriller, so... not sure why the author felt the need to describe the porn stuff in such detail.

Honestly I dived in thinking it's a standalone thriller with sort of jaw dropping twists...........sooo yeah not really appealing to me
Suspenseful and Riveting
This is not an erotica story. Are there erotic elements? Yes. Suspense? Definitely. I read each word like this mystery needed solving. This book is sexy in a forbidden way. I highly recommend this book and am so excited to see it come to life when the movie is released!

Eh…. I don’t know what I was expecting but this wasn’t it. It wasn’t bad but it was a very slow hard read, for me. I probably won’t continue this series.
