So many emotions I went through during this read. Anger, confusion, more anger, annoyance, heartbreak, lots of damned crying. So much crying. Wow. Such a great book.
This book is so raw. That is the best way to describe it. Despite being a romance novel, it was brutally heavy. Yes, the butterflies and the laughter was there. I smiled a lot, and fell in love with the characters. Nevertheless, the heartache and crying at 1am was also there. The letter explaining what happened? It shattered me, yet opened my eyes so widely. At this point, I expect nothing less from the author. She knows exactly how to play with the readers emotions in the best way possible.
This book did not feel like fiction. I did not personally relate to the themes of this story, which I thought would make me enjoy it less. Yet somehow, the story felt so real, and as Colleen Hoover herself said in the acknowledgments, “There are people like Kenna everywhere, in every town. People who feel alone in the world, no matter where they’re located…” and “… we have no idea how many broken pieces they’re made up of on the inside.”
My only criticism of this book is that you can predict certain things happening. You may roll your eyes or frown, as I did at certain points. But in a way, that is not a criticism. The predictability of this book just enhances the realism of the story. In life, we can often predict certain things happening - whether we want them to happen or not.

this was a really nice read, I wish the epilogue was farther in the future so I could see what happened :’) side note: the us prison system neglects women and mothers so much it’s despicable
