We're weapons. They made us this way. And we're coming for them.
I daresay I enjoyed this one even more than the first! This is such a great sci-fi series.
I loved the world of Magnia/Glacia with its two moons and the way the shift in moons dictated the name of the planet. So cool! The culture of the Imago and all of the creatures on the planet was awesome!
The best part of this series is hands down the diversity of the cast of characters. I love how Scott handles all of the cultural barriers and brings together this fabulous band of misfits! They've all had a rough past, but find family amongst themselves. Squad goals!!
We survive together. Shoulder to shoulder.
I loved the sense of family that the team had. Even though they had their differences, they had each other's backs no matter what. And I loved the beautiful relationship that Emmett and Morning shared! Also, Emmett is such a great lead. He comes from a rough background and has faced hardship, which makes him so much more empathetic. I loved that he stood up for Axis and the Imago in the outer rings. He does what he has to in order to survive but deep down he is a genuinely good person.
If you haven't read this series yet, you are missing out!

This book continues the story from Nyxia. It follows Emmett, who was recruited by Babel for child mining operations on an alien planet. Of course, Babel isn't just a friendly company that delights in providing dangerous high income jobs to teenagers for large sums of money, they are also incredibly shady and clearly have ulterior motives. As Emmett's diverse team mines the Nyxia, they'll have to come to grips with the trials of the previous book.
This book is much darker than the first book in the series. As we explore more about the culture and civilization of the Atomites, we learn that it isn't just Babel that is keeping secrets. The plot was pretty engaging, though at times a bit predictable. I did thoroughly enjoy the diversity in the book, especially since it didn't feel like just a token character as representation.
Despite this being a second book, there was sufficient plot, not just filler. However, as a warning, the book does end on a pretty massive cliffhanger, so read at your own risk.

This series is so awesome. but Scott really did us dirty at the end there, bro not cool, my feelings got hurt.
Can't wait for the third book.

4.5 Stars
This book picks up right where Nyxia leaves off. It starts fast and does not slow down.
Having landed on the Eden the teens must find each other and move through an alien world that is every bit as dangerous as Babel said it was. They have to mine nyxia, deal with the Adamites and mostly survive. Because not all the Adamites are in agreement with how to handle their visitors. As Emmett and his team fight for survival, more is on the line then they thought possible.
We move away from the gladiator teens pitted against each other by evil government and move on to a much more fascinating story. We also begin to discover that everyone is lying. We knew about Babel but what are the Adamaites hiding? And what does this all have to do with nyxia?
The teens are determined to figure out what's going on and take their fates into their own hands, but the only way to do that is to stick together. There is awesome characterization as well as bloody, hard action. The protagonists are individuals and it has been rough. But by sticking together and working as a team they have hope that they will make it off Eden and back to Earth. Morning is a terrific captain and so fierce in her protectiveness. I also love the way that she and Emmet are able to trade off leadership as needed. Everyone's strength is valued, not that they all get along. There's some lethal rivalry that continues here.
Most chapters are narrated by Emmet, but there are so chapters from Anton's pov, who rapidly turning into one of favs.
I'm also going to give a shout out to Sullivan Jones who narrates most of the audiobook. He is awesome. Every character has a different voice and I never felt that they were running together.

4.5/5. What an incredible sequel! I'm so pleased with Scott's easy to devour writing style, distinct voices and diverse cast of characters, and of course, the exciting plot! There were a couple chapters from 2 other POVs that were a bit random, but they did offer valuable information. I can't wait for the third book in the trilogy to be released and can't believe I waited this long to read this!

It's been awhile since I've stayed up late to finish a book. Nyxia Unleashed gets a strong four stars for an engaging and fast-paced plot, and continued likable characters.
The story continues, with Emmett and the other chosen descending onto Eden (Magness/Magnia) with their task of extracting nyxia from the planet, with the support of the native Adamites (Imago), who have agreed to a peaceful truce with the humans. But things are not all as they seem, and there are several twists in this one that kept me reading into the night.
With that ending, I'm anxious for the conclusion!

I received this book for free via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and I was really excited to read the next one, so when the publisher approved my request for an ARC, I was thrilled. This was so much better than the first book. There was a lot going on, and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I was trying to piece everything together, but I was not expecting what happen at all.
The book starts off where the last one ended; with Emmet and the rest of the Genesis crew landing on the alien planet. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters a little more in this book. I really felt like this provided more depth into each of the characters' personalities.
This was very well written. I honestly could not stop thinking about it and did not want to put it down. I would tell myself that I was only going to finish the chapter, but ended up reading five more. I am a little disappointed that I will have to wait for the third book to come out because this one left on a cliff hanger, but I am very excited for it. I would definitely recommend this book/series if you enjoy books set in space. It is a really good series, and this was an amazing book.
