2/2025: Couldn’t stop with just the first of the series…absolutely devoured this one.
When you have no clue who-dun-it you know it's a good book.
The book was not as fast paste as The Cuckoo's Calling up it played with your mind more. Rowling's outstanding ability to write amazing characters was present again, none of these I found likeable but throughly enjoyed reading about them. Strike and Robin's relationship is even more interesting that before with is all tying into the case.
Overall another great book and can't wait for the next.

I really enjoyed this, even more than I thought I would. Very clever JK
Not going to lie, but there is a reason I read every book J.K Rowling writes (If you didn't know that Robert Galbraith was JKR then....soz)
This novel is no different- it's gripping, it's gory, it's suspenseful....everything a good crime novel needs, and it's also just as good as the first one, The Cuckoo's Calling. I liked the plot of this one better, maybe because it was a little more macabre but I also felt the setting was something JKR knew well- publishing houses! The plot follows the disappearance of a famous author, Owen Quine, and his wife rings Cormoran Strike to hire him to find out where her husband is.
The answer, is not what she expects, when it is discovered her husband has been the victim of a grisly murder, in a way that mimics his new novel. Is that a clue? An omen? Cormoran thinks so and is determined to find out who it is and lead the police away from their main suspect. The wife.
One of things I liked in this book was the development of the relationship between Cormoran and his assistant, Robin, it was nice to see her included in the case this time. I also like the fact this book included a character who had special needs. It made the murder case much sadder with the way the daughter of the murdered writer reacted to it. She just didn't understand and it was very sad :C
I had two theories about how the culprit was. I got half of it right, because I changed my mind half way through! I'm really getting into this series and I would recommend it to any crime fans. Don't look at the author because it's fantastic.
5/5 stars!
Loved it!
Now I need to go out and buy book three!

Pretty good
I was excited to read the second book of this series. It did become a little drawn out for me but it was still a good read.
