A good balance of humor, gore, and action. Galbraith (Rowling) does a great job of providing the reader with just enough information to figure out some parts of the mystery independently, but keeps the reader guessing with certain withheld information. The characters were even more complex and interesting in this book than Cuckoo's Calling. The audio version of this book was done very well.

didn't love it

Absolutely perfect, as expected.

Since reading the first book on audio with the fantastic narrator, I decided to do the rest of the series via audio. The problem is that the book is so LOOONG via audio. Towards the end I couldn't take it anymore and I just had to finish it out by reading it.

Book was just okay. The charm of being introduced to the series has worn off so it wasn't as "ooh ahh" as the first one. Surprisingly enough, I guessed correctly again in this book whodunnit. I don't know if I will take the plunge in book 3. The only thing that might make me do it is to see where the Robin/Matt/Strike story leads.

I really like this series. I love Robin and Strike. Good mystery to it, keeps you guessing. Can't wait for the next one.
