This was the first Connelly book I've read, and I had trouble getting into it. Connelly seems to use a lot of unneccessary words/sentences, like a kid trying to make his essay meet the minimum page requirement set by a teacher. The story and characters were good but the ending was kind of abrupt.

A fresh protagonist, as well likeable as his others. A police procedural that doesn't slow the pace and crisp story line. All make this a book to be recommended. Stilwell is a stickler for some rules, less so for some others. That gets him into that occasional bit of trouble but what's life without some adventure.
