Heartbreaking
Read this wonderful book. This book broke my heart but I could not put it down. It will stay with me for a long time to come

I enjoyed reading this but it was emotionally tough in some place. Not a light read!
The Rabbit Girls - the terrifying story of young girls and women in the Nazi concentration camps used like rabbits for medical experimentation - that's the deep, dark thread that is woven in this novel. Paralleled with Miriam's awakening and stand against her own abusive marriage - this story was hard to put down and hard to read at the same time. Yet, it also elevated the strength of the human spirit in both cases. I found the characters well formed and was deeply touched by this novel.
I chose this as my Amazon First Read for August. I love historical fiction novels about WWII and the holocaust, yet this one fell a little flat. Miriam’s story and abusive relationship with her husband seemed out of left field and added nothing to the story. And while I loved reading the letters from Freida, I felt like they were unbelievably long and contained to much detail for a person trying to get information out of a concentration camp. I guessed the “plot twist” about half way through the book, but kept reading to see how it all tied together. I gave it 3 stars because I couldn’t put it down, but there was so much extraneous information that detracted from the story, and really made no sense. If you are expecting a book about the Rabbit Girls you will be left disappointed!
Great read, was our bookclub pick at the Christmas period, I had it on Audible which was really well read. However, listening to it round the Christmas Markets was not appropriate, not a fun read that is for sure!
Maybe 2 1/2 stars. The book's title is quite deceptive as the Rabbit Girls are a fairly minor subplot in the story. I found most of the characters to be unlikable. The whole book could have been about 100 pages shorter if the repetitive parts were better edited. I would not recommend this book.
Interesting but confusing
The story overall was interesting, but the style of writing was confusing at times. The story jumped from first person to third person with little to no warning.

That was a really rough book content-wise. Make sure you read a content warning before you dive into this one.
The ending saved it from being relegated to the Mollie’s Amazon First Reads Two-Star Club. (Typically for me, books that are not bad enough for a DNF One-Star and not good enough for anything besides the feeling of relief that it’s over and I don’t have to read another page).
The odd combination of historical fiction and psychological thriller kept me reading and the end was enough of a payoff that, three-stars it is.
