Starter Villain is a short, quick read with a delightfully offbeat premise that sets it apart from most books on the shelf. As expected from John Scalzi, the story is laced with humor and snappy dialogue, making for an entertaining and highly readable ride.

The concept, an ordinary guy stumbling into the world of supervillainy, is both fun and clever, offering something refreshingly different. That said, the cover might throw you off a bit; while it features a very prominent cat, the main character is decidedly human.
