After finishing the Gansett Island series I thought I would give the Fatal series ago. Romantic suspense isn’t really my thing as I prefer the focus to be on the romance, I.e like in the Gansett series, but as this is Marie Force I thought I would give it ago. I wasn’t disappointed, I loved Sam and Nick and even got drawn into the murder/mystery. Can’t wait to read the next books in the series to find out how they develop as a couple.
I wasn't feeling the romance and the mystery was not enough to keep me going.

I had a really, really hard time getting into this book. I finally bought the audible version. That made it possible for me to get through the beginning, and I enjoyed the book. I figured out who the killer was long before she did.

Detective Sergeant Sam Holland and Nick Cappuano reconnect over his best friend, John O'Connor, a US Senator's murder. Nick and Sam first met six years earlier, had a one night stand, but her roommate future husband kept them from being together by never giving her Nick's messages. During the murder investigation the two (Nick and Sam) reconnect and begin building a relationship. She is worried that her superiors will take her off the case and asks Nick to wait until the investigation is over before they start building something together. But are they able to deny the chemistry that sizzles between them? Find out who's after them before the unthinkable happens?
This was a great story! Fatal Affair was such a nail biting story. Throughout the story I was thinking the killer was a few different people and each guess was wrong. I was completely surprised about who it actually was. I really liked getting to know Nick, Sam, her father, and her partner, each character seemed realistic. The chemistry between Nick and Sam was palpable and I loved his alpha tendencies. Great book and I am excited to continue reading the series!
