I do not normally ready mystery/thriller/romance stories because I figure out the bad person in between chapters 3-5 usually. This book had me guessing until nearly the end.

Sam is a good cop going through some bad times. She has a complicated history with a past case and a ex-husband. She is so grounded at home I think that's what makes her such a likable character. I really felt the chemistry between her and her partner Cruz. I actually hope to see more of Cruz in future books.

Nick had one night with Sam a couple years ago and never forgot her. Now he's thrown into her world of homicide and mayhem. They start to re kindle what once was but will it work out?

Nick and Sam had really good chemistry I like how the author told some of Nick's POV. It wasn't hard following along when she switched to his POV like most books that flop around. It was a very smooth transition. Sam didn't want to let Nick in but you watch her heart slowly warm to him. It was really well thought out since Sam is an alpha kind of a girl how Nick has to adjust to not always being in charge.

I will read the next book!

When I started this book, it didn't feel very interesting to me but however, the second part had me really intrigued. I liked the fact that it was a second chance romance. Despite meeting 6 years after their brief affair, it did not feel like a terrible insta love between Sam and Nick. And I really liked Nick. He was just so damn perfect. Protective but knows his boundaries. Caring, loving, and not to forget so hot. The only negative aspect that really troubled me was how Nick accompanied Sam to every interrogation and revealed facts about the cases that were only pertinent to the police. I guess Nick was cleared as innocent but still, facts should remain confidential until case is solved! But regardless of this, I really enjoyed the book and especially the identity of the killer. Looking forward to the next books.

Washington DC Police Detective Sergeant Sam Holland slid down the ladder some on her last case. Since then she has been trying to get back up again.

Senator John O’Connor has been murdered. This is just the break Sam needs to get back in everyone’s good graces.

Nick Cappuano is the Chief of Staff for Senator O’Connor. O’Connor was also Nick’s friend. Nick doesn’t care who is investigating the murder of the Senator; he plans to make sure he helps with the investigation. Nick may have a change of mind when he learns who is in charge of the murder investigation. Sam and Nick shared a hot, passionate night together a long time ago. Sam and Nick head down a path filled with deceit and greed. There is no turning back.

Fatal Affair is the latest release from Marie Force. I have read several novels by this author and really enjoyed them. Fatal Affair is a bit of a change from Mrs. Force’s other novels. This one is a suspense/thriller while the others are more romantic comedy.

The chemistry between Nick and Sam was there. They worked well as a team. I like that Sam portrayed a strong female in a male dominated world. As much as I liked this book, aside from Sam and Nick, I didn’t really feel any connection with the rest of the characters. This was a bummer as then I was not fully committed to the story line. Overall, through this is a quick read. Fatal Affair will have you committing your own affair with this book.

The good thing that this book had going was that it kept me guessing as to who the killer was till almost the very end. When it came to the suspense aspect Marie Force does not disappoint at all.

I liked the romance as well but there were parts where it irked me, like how does Samantha, this logical cop who thinks out all her actions & the consequences almost throw the case away by sleeping with a witness. On top of that she took him to interview other witnesses, etc which in most cases wldn't happen since he is a civilian.

Apart from such tiny things I felt like the book was good and wld definitely give the next book in the series a go.

Good quick paced romance!

The books keeps you engaged the whole time, but some of the character development was unrealistic

I might have a new favorite series. Started reading this one Thursday night...it's now Monday and I'm on book 8...

Especially since it was free on amazon, it was a good book. If say 3.5 stars. It was frustrating because I knew all along who the killer was and they played clueless...

Coming off a hard case Detective Sergeant Samantha Holland is working hard to show that she is a smart and dedicated detective but she's under the spotlight when her latest case is the murder of a senator. It doesn't help that her greatest resource to the life of the senator is his right hand man, Nick, the one night stand Samantha couldn't forget. Nick never got over his missed chance with Samantha and even though it was the death of one of his best friends that brought them back together Nick isn't going to let this chance slip through his fingers. And when chasing down leads isn't enough, someone is out to hurt Nick and Samantha. Will they be able to not only track down a killer who is just getting started, but not end up in the crosshairs in the mean time? A really fun, suspenseful, sexy read. Intrigued by the dynamic between Nick and Sam and I look forward to reading more from them!
