The Ordinary Princess

I just loved this sweet little story about an ordinary princess, the best kind to be.

I found this (as new) copy at a thrift shop. I've been wanting to read it for such a long time. Now, I can give it to my grand daughter for her 8th Birthday!

It’s a special gift when the story books of our childhood drift back to us in opportune moments.

Adorable, sweet story. Perfect ending. Enjoyed very much. Nice to take a step back into this age-genre. I'll be sure my daughter reads it, too!

What a cute, 'real' story! I really enjoyed this princess who had a mind of her own, and didn't want to be just another princess! A fun, fast read.

One of my favorite books growing up and still one I reach for when I'm feeling nostalgic. It's a wonderful story about the merits of "being yourself" and how being beautiful is not always the blessing it appears to be. Another reviewer mentioned the idea of the blonde princess being called beautiful and the brunette princess being ordinary and how that might affect her brunette daughter but it goes far beyond hair color. Even as a blonde little girl, I always identified more with Amy despite the fact that her hair color is different than mine. I think kids are smart enough to pick up the true meaning of the story and not obsess over details as a loving and attentive mother would. That's just my two cents though. I think the book is as relevant (if not more so with all the media we are exposed to on a daily basis) as it was when I was little.

A refreshing approach to the typical fairy tale.

If you ever want a quick read and a cute fairy tale, then this is the book. It's ever inch your classic fairy tale - with the more modern bonus of the romantic leads actually talking and doing activities before they propose. It is a cute refreshing read.
