Like I love them but it felt kinda instalove and didn’t have as much of a bone deep connection as the other books unfortunately. Also it just felt like a Roy Kent gets with Ted Lasso fan fic at parts which took me out of it. The cheesiest big time.

What is it with me reading VIP romance with a slight age gap so it was the other’s teenage crush

The audiobook was interesting. The “Oi”s killed me. And the “slight British accent” that came out only in an emo scene….

THIS BOOK! 😍🥰 Everything For You is rivals-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine (but they're also both kind of a$$holes) perfection!

Up-and-coming football (soccer for the Americans) superstar Oliver Bergman is made co-team captain alongside the legendary player Gavin Hayes. Neither of them are happy about this development as they've pretty much been avoiding each other for the two years they've been playing on the same team.

Oliver is sunshine personified ☀️ He's always happy, and friendly, he's great at football, and everyone loves him. He's also got the most gorgeous smile and he's absolutely beautiful! Which is why Gavin has spent the past two years avoiding him and being even more of a grump around Oliver than he is normally - and that's saying something.

Gavin is a decade older than Oliver and his body is in constant pain, yet he refuses to give up playing. He can't stand to see this younger guy being so carefree and playing so beautifully when Gavin himself has given his life to a sport that has wrecked his body. He definitely won't let himself look at Oliver's stupid face with his dumb smile because that's just a path to disaster that Gavin knows he needs to avoid.

Oliver barrels his way into Gavin's life and refuses to leave, no matter how hard Gavin tries to make him. Both Gavin and Oliver have commitment issues, and mental health struggles they're dealing with, and they're both used to hiding it so no one can see how much they're suffering. Watching them slowly letting each other in, trusting each other, and finding friendship and love together was everything and my heart is still so happy from reading this book 🥰🥹

There's excellent chronic pain and anxiety rep, and both Oliver and Gavin are openly queer (Oliver's bi, Gavin's gay.) There's also great (found) family - Oliver's entire family is fantastic, and Gavin's group of 70-year-old queer men he plays cards with was wonderful.

I switched between the physical book and audiobook and they both were excellent.

i loveeeee that this was unabashedly Jamie Tartt & Roy Kent fan fiction hahahaha and it was just as hot as it could’ve been in Ted Lasso had the writers not been COWARDS!!!! the characters were lovable and their chemistry was sweet. and i am always down for sports romance!! also, i love the MC’s family and their dynamic and it has me thinking i might read all 6 of his sibling’s books eventually …

⭐3.5

The romance got really cheesy, but I really loved the chronic pain rep in this one.

Gavin is a football captain nearing the end of his career, battling his failing strength to keep doing what he loves. He pushes himself too hard and believes his worth is entirely dependent on his job. Which is why he hates Oliver, his young and fit teammate, who has everything Gavin is currently losing.

I wish Gavin had truly been a grump, instead of an asshole, but the jealousy he's got festering is something he works on for this relationship with Oliver to work. As a chronically ill person myself I can't exactly blame him for being bitter, however it made him quite unprofessional.

The romance was rather undeveloped, we go from hating each other to we wanna fuck but shouldn't to you are the love of my life and I will love you forever without much in-between.

However I appreciated that Gavin needed to work on his jealousy and bitterness before fully committing to a relationship, it was the responsible thing to do and important not to turn it into a conflict when they're already together.

I'm glad that while Gavin was an asshole he never made fun of Oliver's anxiety. Also Gavin's pain didn't magically disappear during sex scenes. They had to compromise, keep his strength and comfort in mind.

I never watched Ted Lasso, which this story is based on? Soo I can't comment on that aspect, though I heard mixed opinions in other reviews.

This is the first book I've read of Chloe Liese, but if I had to guess some of the couples in this story are from her other works. Though I like big families, all these couples were a little hard to keep track of. Lots of wedding stuff.

Trigger Warnings: Queerphobic Slur, (Age Gap)

Ehh they talked about their feelings too much. I’d rather read a book where actions speak louder than words. I don’t like that everything was spelled out for the reader.
