It was a good quick read. But not daisy Jones or Evelyn Hugo great. One thing i struggled with was there being full conversations in Spanish with no context to what they meant. Not always just little phrases, full conversations. It was also fully about tennis. Like very sporty. Imagine Harry Potter but the entire book being all quidditch scenes. I like sports and competition but It was a lot.

if i’m honest, it slowed down a little in the middle, but she pulled back, like she always does. TJR… ily

4.5 Stars...

I do not follow tennis or have any interest in the sport, but I LOVED this book! Carrie Soto is such a hard-headed, narrow-minded b*tch, but she sure does grow on you!

It took me about a week to finish this book as I had a lot of other stuff going on, but now that I'm finished with it, I find that I really miss her. She drove me crazy at times with her obstinance, but her growth over the course of the book was touching and really well done.

The only reason I'm giving this 4.5 stars instead of 5 is because of all the Spanish. I don't speak or read Spanish, and there is a lot of it in this book. I could have used my phone to translate what was being said, but that really takes you out of the story and is a huge distraction. I would have greatly appreciated the English translation in parenthesis, at the very least, so I could understand what was being said. I don't mind the Spanish version being typed out, but not knowing what was being said made me constantly feel like I was missing something.

That aside, though, I really did enjoy this book and thought it was really well done. I don't think I've met a TJR book that I haven't loved yet, so it's no surprise this one is such a hit. As always, I can't wait to see what comes next from one of my favorite authors.
