How is this book over 50 years old?!? While yes a bus token isn't 10 cents anymore, it feels timeless. I never read this book as a child, but really wish I had. Claudia and my 10 year old self were like two peas in a pod: planning adventures, love of learning, solving mysteries and lousy with money.
This was SUCH a delightful family read aloud! I loved every minute of it! Now I can't wait to take my kids to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC one day. A lovely story with some fun twists and turns along the way.

Jamie and Claudia both stayed in the met for a week without any help or parents and they even found a way to take a bath in a museum! And it was in 1967 and would not be possible now.
I loved this book as a kid and re-reading it made me realize that it might have inspired my love of museums and art history!
