This had to be my favorite book from the series. I loved that Brock and Jillian had a history.

It's been a while since I was last in this world so I was worried I wouldn't remember who was who, thankfully I fell into the pages like I had never been away. I loved getting to see old faces and catch up with them, as well as seeing how lives can change from past events. I felt sorry for Jillian in what she has dealt with an how long it's taken to overcome the hurdles, but I liked seeing how confident she becomes throughout her journey within the pages. I did initially think she was jumping into things a bit too fast, remembering things from the past and letting that influence her judgement in the present, but seeing how things have changed on both sides did leave a positive aspect to this. I loved getting to catch up with old faces and see what they are up to now, especially with help from Jillian.

Dnf. I didn't care for the characters when they were introduced in the last book and i don't care now. Nothing about the book captured my attention.

I don't know if I'm let down after all of the hype or because JL is usually one of my go-to authors, but I feel disappointed. I don't feel like there was enough of a story of character development. I was left feeling like I needed more . . . I needed more of Jillian as a character, more of Brock as a character and then more of them building a relationship. I can't leap from shoving someone out of your life for years with zero communication to "well, I've always loved you so lets be together". There needs to be way more between those points. I feel like it's becoming way to common rush stories and throw away character and story development. I've been too disappointed with books lately. Honestly, the most exciting bits of Fire in You were with characters from previous books (Cam, Avery, etc) in the series and getting a little catch up on their lives.

Omg, Jillian and Brock are soooo cute. I didn't expect to like their story so much cause I wasn't really invested in them at all, but they are just so cute together. It's an interesting story and I freaking love the fact that all couples from the previous books appeared in this one.

I have really enjoyed the books in this series and while this latest addition was a fine read I think it pulled too much from the previous books to be wholly original. I felt that most of the plot points were things that had occurred in previous books in this series. Jillian being a bit of a loner and needing to learn to live again we saw with Avery. Jillian having a traumatic experience we saw with Avery, Theresa, and Calla. Jillian having facial scarring we saw with Calla. Jillian liking more nerdy things we saw with Roxy. Jillian and Brock being friends where Jillian has a crush on Brock for years we saw with Theresa and Jace (something Avery even points out in the book). Brock feeling guilt over Jillian's traumatic experience is Nick and his guilt with Calla. Brock being very determined from the beginning to date Jillian (while she is unaware/unbelieving of his intentions) is Cam, Jax, Reece, and Nick to an extent.

This is not to say that the book bad, because it's not. Having met these characters previously mostly in Stephanie's story it was nice to get know them better; especially since both Jillian and Brock ended up being different than what I thought. My biggest issue is that while I was reading I felt like I kept thinking about the previous books and where I had read those plot points or character traits. It was enough where I felt like it took me out of the current story I was reading. On the whole, though, I found Jillian and Brock to be likable characters and good people who you wanted to see get their happy ending together.

that was interesting
but frustrating also.

Brock never really explain himself
