I got an ARC from Ms. Hendrix for One Look and I was absolutely NOT ready to meet Wyatt and Lark!

As a die hard fan of Chikalu Falls and of Redemption Ranch, I was nervous coming into this - would I like new characters or a new town, but I should know not to doubt Lena's ability to wrap you up in a new storyline like a warm fleece blanket right out of the dryer. Wyatt was a phenomenal dad to his little girl Penny and firm-handed babysitter to a few raucous football players, but it's no wonder he's pretty grumpy! Lark came in like a cool breeze at a funeral and ended up making quite a splash in Outtatowner.

This was a lovely ride from start to finish, and I am so grateful to Lena for letting me read an Arc! I hope if you haven't had a chance to read One Look yet, you're heading over to KU now to grab it!

Although I liked the characters, I didn’t really like the story line. Some of it seemed out of place. Lark’s parents were an odd addition. The book is also fairly predictable, but would be a good lighthearted read or pallet cleanser.

This was more of a 3.5 ⭐️ read for me. I bumped it up to 4 since that wasn’t an option. It just didn’t quite hook me, hence why it took me several days to finish it. I liked the Sullivan family, all of their interactions were cute. Penny especially- she’s an adorable kid. Her nickname is precious- they call her pickle.. I love it. I felt Lark and Wyatt were slow going and then all of the sudden it was deep feelings and I just didn’t quite feel that connection.
The rivalry between the Sullivans and the Kings was a little weird, I don’t feel we had enough backstory to even understand the drama surrounding that.
But overall this was a light read with no third act breakup which we love. I am insterested in reading the rest of the Sullivans.

For the beginning part of the book, I wasn't all that interested in the story. I kept reading to see if things became more romantic and interesting. By the halfway point, I was slowly becoming more invested. When they finally started showing signs of romance, I became more invested in their story.

I will say, Penny had me in stitches the entire time. I love a precocious kiddo in a story, and she did not disappoint.

I was enamored enough to want to continue the series and see how the other characters come about their love stories.

Wyatt, Lark and Penny are truly a trio I’d read anything to get a glimpse into their lives.

This book was so good and I love Wyatt and Lark as a couple. He’s a grump and she’s sunshine and together they make each other better.

Single dad tropes are always the best.
Lark and Wyatt fight their connection but it can’t be ignored. They are meant to be.
