Having started reading Lena’s books part of the way through the King series, I’m coming back and reading the Sullivan series now. I’m so excited to be doing this so I can fill in their stories from the info I already know.
This one is about Wyatt and Lark. Wyatt is a former NFL player turned college football coach. He is raising his daughter as a single parent, so when he ends up back in his hometown, he finds himself in need of some help organizing his life. Trying to take over as coach while raising a daughter and keeping 3 of his players out of trouble is more than he can handle on his own. Enter Lark. She is living in his barn apartment, so it makes sense that she takes over helping. She finds that she is surprisingly good at organizing chaos and handling stressful situations.
Of course this ends with a HEA, but we have to get through the grumpy guy with the sunshine girl first

I really enjoyed One Look. It was my first Lena Hendrix novel and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series! I love a good enemies to lovers story and that is what this was at the beginning between Lark and Wyatt. I love that during this book, we got to watch Lark grow as a person and find her real passion in life. We also got to see Wyatt learn to trust again in his hometown with his daughter. And that steam?! Yes please! I am here for it. I think I enjoyed this story so much because it has a small town setting and there are characters that go by nicknames and some people don't actually know their name. I live in a small town and that is exactly what it is like here too! It was fun to be able to relate to the story in that way. I loved this book and I would definitely recommend this one!
Lena Hendrix’s “One Look” is a sweet “n” spicy romance about grumpy former NFL star and single dad, Wyatt, and sunshiny “paid to cry at a funeral” Lark; they both find themselves in close proximity in a small characteristic town of busybodies. What that one look comes some angst and pining—the kind that makes your chest ache. You’ll embrace the warmth of found family and all the reasons why you would want to read a romance in the first place.
Lark is the perfect chaos that enters this small coastal Michigan town where there is an old feud between two families. If you’re fan of small town romances, you’ll be a fan of this and you won’t be surprised why Lark gradually falls in love with it: “Day by day the town and its quirky residents were tightening their grip on my adventurer’s heart.” She may not be the best waitress, but she soon has great fondness for people, especially for Wyatt’s precocious 7-yr-old daughter.
Wyatt is in need of Lark’s skills in organization to help him balance his life as a father and as a college football coach. As serious and moody as Wyatt is, he’s still a man who slips through the cracks of your locked heart and sweep you away, as Lark soon realizes: “My heart ached at how sweet and perfect that man was. Strong, honest, short-tempered, and kind.”
Ummmm….and downright dirty. This romance is more on the spice than the hallmark one so try not to read this with your family around you. Aaaawwkward!
Thanks to the author for trusting me with this book by gifting me an arc. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Lark and Wyatt become the best versions of themselves. It’s the first in the series and I can NOT wait to see what’s in store for Wyatt’s brothers and sister.

Grumpy, dirty talking single dad? Yes please. I love quirky small towns. And involved opinionated families. This has it all.
This reminds me of Claire Kingsleys Bailey Brothers. I can’t wait for Duke to break the feud with love, but I suspect Kate gets the next book. They’ll all be amazing, I can tell already. It’s a great series starter. I’m pretty invested in the town. And even though this was a Sullivan book, and therefore I love the Sullivans, I’m super intrigued by the Kings so a series about them will be great too.
As usual, Lena has done a great job.

This was a great small town romance!
I loved the found family aspect of it and how close Lark got to the boys. And Pickle stole the show every time!
Also Wyatt was the perfect combination of grumpy/brooding and sweet. The way he would talk to Lark once he found out one of her love languages was words of affirmation? Swoon

After devouring all 3 audiobooks in 2 days of the King series, I love coming to see things from the Sullivan family POV!
PS/ Penny (Pickle) steals every scene she's in!

The first 30% was slow and i was a bit bored but after that it got so much better and I enjoyed it so much

This was actually a pretty cute read outside of the smut, which to be fair was the whole reason I picked this up as a read to begin with.
