One Look follows Lark and Wyatt in Outtatowner, Michigan, which is the quirkiest small town. The residents that live there are a a reflection of that, and everyone has their lifelong nickname. Lark and Wyatt meet when she is hired to cry at a funeral, but throughout the story we get to see them discover their love languages. Lark is hired by Wyatt to be his personal assistant because he needs help during the summer wrangling his 3 live in players from the college team that he coaches. She also helps out with Penny, Wyatt’s daughter. I love all of their interactions and how they work together as a family. I hope we get to see move of the characters that live in this town.

Holy swoon!! This book had you rooting for Lark and Whitt from chapter 1! Lark is a ball of sunshine, aspiring actress and free spirit. You really just want to be her friend. Whytt is definitely the grumpy to her sunshine but the way he loves his daughter has you melting. These two are magnetic. Watching them was simply happy making.
Lark thought she'd be an actress. She never thought she'd wind up in a small town on the shores of Lake Michigan, being paid to mourn one of the locals.
Wyatt Sullivan is a former NFL player turned collegiate football coach. He's raising a daughter mostly on his own, and trying to figure out how to help his family with their father's Alzheimer's/Dementia diagnosis and keep the King Family from taking over any more than they already have.
Sparks fly between Lark & Wyatt. While he's trying to manage coaching and helping some of his players out of danger of ineligibility, Lark turns into their greatest ally with her gift for organization and her general likeability. Wyatt's biggest concern is that Lark will give up the opportunity to pursue her own dream and tells her to go to LA and make sure she knows what she wants.
If you love someone, set them free - but make sure you also tell them that you love them and will be waiting. Unless you decide not to wait and go after love, after all.

Small town single dad romance!
This is the kind of book that gets me through a Sunday and this book did exactly that! :D
Wyatt was super grumpy and Lark was lovely. I enjoyed their dynamic and it was a very satisfying slow burn.
The whole Sullivan/King rivalry was a bit overdone and became a little annoying though. I get it, MJ and the oldest Sullivan are likely going to get their own book and we need the Romeo and Juliet thing to set it up but separate parts of the pub and sides of the street? Really?
I mean I'm obviously going to read the rest but this was just a very overdone plot point!
This author essentially ripped off The Bailey Brothers series by Claire Kingsley. I get romance authors having some similiarities as far as tropes go but the town feud between two families, the towns people having to pick sides, the prank wars between the families, the historical puzzle to solve, the women of both families having a weekly meet up, a Romeo and Juliet angle book in the series with the two feuding families! Kingsley’s books came out first and while it might just be a coincidence, the similarities are to much for me to think so

Outtatowner is my new favorite place. I’d love to experience a town like this. I only wish there was more info on the kings and Sullivan rivalry. I will be reading the next book to find out more
