Listened to this on audiobook and really enjoyed it! I liked the characters -especially Penny who gave some great lines and humour throughout. I loved how the romance developed between the main characters and the spicy scenes were well written. I am definitely going to get the next books in this series!

I absolutely loved this storyline, Wyatt and Lark’s story was amazing. The way that the author brought the two characters together was so different, but it made for such a good story. I loved picking up the book to read more and found it so hard to put down! She also did an amazing job adding in the spicy scenes, I loved them details and how she played it all out, I cannot wait to read more!

I think this book could be summed up with one word: why?

Why did those men – yes, men – have to live with their coach over the summer??? That is not how college or life works. There was absolutely no purpose for them being there.

Why did this stranger decide to stay in some random town in Michigan???

Why did an (as previously mentioned) “overprotective” father hire someone to watch over his daughter who had zero childcare experience or references?

Why were there so many stupid nicknames in this book?

Why was there a decades long feud between two families?

Better yet, why did I have to read an entire book and still not know the reason for that feud?

Why was this dubbed as grumpy/sunshine when the grumpy stopped 5% in?

Why did this lean so hard into a “hardcore” or “mean” sex theme? It came out of left field and added absolutely nothing to the story. It felt 100% manufactured by the author to hit the buzz words of the moment.

Why would a mother who has given up all rights to her child still be in that child’s life? And dubbed as “Mom“?

Why did that “mom“ even come back to cause issues? Better question, why was nothing resolved from it?

Why did a former pro football player live in shitty homes?

Why would someone who’s strived their entire life to be an actress throw in the towel when they finally catch their big break?

Why did this need to be over 400 pages? (Spoiler: it didn’t)

Why was so much trivial bullshit thrown in, and why did the author skip the substance?

Why would this author blatantly rip off several other small town authors and not be a bit more subtle about it?

And perhaps the most important question of all, why did I read this entire book?

Okay I loved this. I gave it 4 stars because I felt cheated out of a proposal scene tbh.

I loved Pen she was literally adorable. I also loved that everyone introduces themselves by their nickname in the town instead of did their real name. I do wish we could have seen a nickname for Lark.

I really didn’t get the whole Royal King storyline… like did he just flirt with Lark to piss Wyatt off or was it going to turn into something..? I felt like it was weird.

I also wish we had a goodbye scene instead of just Katie showing up to a grumpy Wyatt missing Lark and saying she had been gone for 2 weeks already… I feel like we were cheated out of the small moments that probably aren’t significant to most people but that’s what really knocked this from 5 to 4 stars for me.

Oh and this whole rivalry thing.. didn’t really seem necessary to me. So far we just have a couple petty pranks and one fight at the beach. Where the charges were dropped… I don’t get it. Plus Bug and Tootie are like friends? Idk. That whole side of it is just confusing to me.

I’m fully in my small town romance era and I’m OBSESSED with small town Michigan romances, being a Michigander myself.

This is my first Lena Hendrix book but it won’t be my last! I had to give this series a try, and the first one is single dad?! HELLS YEAH.

Wyatt Sullivan is top tier single dad book boyfriend material. I’m obsessed with him and his daughter, he’s so devoted. And when Lark hilariously shows up at the funeral? I was hooked.

I can’t wait for more from Lena Hendrix and can’t wait to devour the rest of this series. A definitely 5 star read for me and such a promising start to my love affair with the Sullivans.
