short and sweet and cute! didn't love that she didn't pursue acting but it was cute for her to realize and just go back "home"
Good. God. I LOVED this book. I am a sucker for a single dad x nanny romance but THIS hit me right in the gut with how much i loved it. The way Lark was intorduced just set us up for her character so so well and it was a such a unique start to a book when I child asks if they are going to see a dead person

One Look is the book one in Lena Hendrix's newest series and I have to say I really enjoyed it. While there were moments that it was a little slow I thought it was an overall enjoyable book. I've always enjoyed a good single parent romance, and the fact that it was also grumpy-sunshine romance as well? So good.
I found One Look to be a great introduction to the entire Sullivan Family and the small town that they live in. In particular I love how they set up the Sullivan Family/King Family rivalry, that I'm convinced is going to eventually lead to a Romeo/Juliet story at some point, for which I'm really looking forward to that prospect. I mean in a town where they can't go to the same funeral, its just begging for a family rivalry romance.
The one complaint I have about this book is I felt that there were a lot of people introduced in the beginning of the book, all at once and they were kinda hard to keep track of. I would have preferred if they were introduced slower but I was able to keep up with it all.

This is a new-to-me-author and when I saw this series was based out of Michigan, I had to read it.
Did.Not.Disappoint.
Lark Butler, 29, a professional mourner and actress was hired to mourn at a funeral.
Wyatt Sullivan, single father to adorable 7 year old Penny and football coach definitely knew Lark was a fake and called her out on it.
When these two unknowingly became neighbors, and Wyatt needs a babysitter- the romance was lit up.
“If fucking your boss and neighbor was always like that but also meant lighting your entire life on fire? Then hand me the matches.”
I loved the slow burn romance, the comedic relief, and the found families rivalry. I’m super interested in more of the other family that lives in Outtatowner, Michigan.
Yes I recommend
Yes I’d continue the series

Wyatt is a former NFL player who has now been hired as a coach for a college football team. When he goes back to his hometown after years to attend a funeral, he meets Lark.
Lark is an actress who works as a mourner for hire and is hired to mourn at this funeral in Outtertowner. No one knows her, and everyone in town is intrigued by her presence.
Wyatt and Lark's first meeting was less than cordial where she literally falls into a grave because of Wyatt. They start off with throwing snarky comments at each other and want to never see each other again. But that doesn't work out too well when they both decide to stay in town and end up being neighbours.
Wyatt is looking for a place to settle down in so he can provide some stability for his 7 year old daughter after moving 3 times in the last 3 years. A place to call home. When Penny gets attached to his family in Outtertowner, he relents and decides to stay in his hometown and travel out of town for work. He's trying his best to be a good father to Penny while also making sure he's keeping his team in line and training them for a winning season.
Lark is used to moving from place to place whenever she's hired. Staying in Outtatowner was a small break for the summer while she waits for any news of job opportunities in LA.
While in town, Wyatt and Lark keep running into each other and ending up in weird situations.
When things get too much to handle, Wyatt asks Lark to be his personal assistant and help him handle his work and keep 3 college kids from his team out of trouble and look out for Penny when he's not around since they're neighbours.
As time goes by Wyatt realizes that there's so much more to Lark than what he initially assumed about her and can't help but get attached. And so does his daughter.
Lark has been moving around, working, waiting for her big break all this time, but she slowly settles into this town and starts feeling like she belongs there, with these people, especially with Wyatt and Penny. She doesn't know how she's gonna be able to leave when the summer ends.
And the SPICEEE... DAMNNNN.. A grumpy single Dad with a filthy mouth???? Umm... Sign me the fuck up

A single dad gets me every time! Add in a small town with quirky characters and I’m sold.
In Lena’s new book One Look the ex-NFL star and single dad Wyatt returns to his hometown for a funeral where he meets Lark. She is the woman paid to cry at the funeral by his Aunt. He can’t take his eyes off her.
Returning to town is hard for him but he’s getting the chance for a coaching gig near town and his daughter gets to be near family.
Everyone has a nickname, and Lark is charmed by the town. Once dreaming of being an actress she can’t help but feel like this town might be a better fit. The grumpy single dad just might be perfect for her too.
Filled with all the small town vibes you could want with an ease to the story that you whip right through it.
I received an arc for review. All opinions are my own and given freely.

I love my single dad romances and I needed another one after reading Wild Love.
This book did not disappoint. Did it start off a bit slow at first? Sure, but it picked up quickly. Also, his daughter Pickle was so freaking adorable I loved every second between her and Lark.
Also, Lark and Wyatt had me swooning. I loved when she asked him "boobs or butt", that scenes was *chefs kiss* I'm excited to read the rest of the books in this series because this was such a quick read, I read this in a day and a half.
