I found this book on a Goodreads thread and decided to take the plunge. For a Fae novel, this one stands apart - creating a whole new world and Court wrapped around the myths and legends that we all know so well. While playing on the new theme and setting new rules, it still harkens back to tried and true when it comes to Fairy Tales, solidyfying the scaffolds that have carefully formed this genre.

Overall engaging and entrancing, it moves forward at a steady clip - even though there are times when the narrative runs ragged with detail and imagery. The main character is humorous and sassy - just like the heroine of all good Paranormal novels should be, though at times she did come across as flat and one sided (ironic for someone supposed to be immersed in the in-between). Her growth, at this point, is more forced than focused, yet I am eager to see how the author fleshes her out (and the other characters) in the next book.

Least favorite Amy Sumida book..

This one just didn't do it for me. AGain, she had far too much world building at the beginning of the book. It makes for a very dry read at the beginning and difficult to get into. I can appreciate good world building, but it should happen organically throughout a book, not forced all at once. I didn't love the character of Seren. She doesn't stand out as a heroine in my eyes. And Tiernan was just blah. I don't think I'll be continuing with this series.

TW: rape, torture and abuse

just wrote a huge freaking long review for it to get erased by my damn phone. So I’m going to just sat this. I didn’t like the writing at all. It would take 3 paragraphs to describe one damn dress but the fight scenes were also that long. Endless descriptions of characters we would see maybe twice, dozens of names of things never mentioned again yet the plot line felt rushed when we got into any meaningful areas of the book. An RH with 1 paragraph saying they screwed plus from reviews the RH doesn’t even happen till book 4 with a plot and writing that left me frustrated and wondering why I even finished listening to it

While the address Twilight Princess made me think of Zelda rather than vampires...lol, I really found this a fun and original read. There's lots of excitement and Seren is an interesting young woman who makes an awesome main character. I really like the transition from Extinguisher to Fairy Princess (that sounds corny but it works), and finding a way to balance those two existences. The ideas of what is good and what is bad is not _too_ preachy but a good reminder to look at individuals rather than the whole and being judgmental. (Good timing for that). That's a long discussion right there. Seren makes mistakes and owns up to them, and realizes how much she needs to learn. The romance is convincing, and I like the secondary characters as well. Recommend.

did not finish, this just was noooooot for me. there is no way the main character is 26, and whyyyy did the main chick and love interest immediately fall in love especially when they're meant to be at least somewhat opposing? whaaaa?

Really was not a huge fan of this.. Seren accepted everything instantly.. um she woke up with different eyes and different hair and found out that she is the thing she has been killing all her life and she’s just like ok yeah that’s cool. Nd Tiernan her love interest is awful. The dialogue is so cheesy it’s uncomfortable... I have read 5ish books in The Godhunter series and I don’t remember the dialogue being this bad.. but it’s been awhile since I’ve read it. So I’m thinking these characters are just not for me. Not totally invested in the story either. But that’s mainly because I really dislike Seren. Eh. I probably won’t be reading more in this series..
