A kaleidoscope information of a time period & place that existed only in the abstract of War & Politics. Covering the human & history of a part of Europe known and seen but unknown and unseen.

An excellent study into the political and social changes within the GDR and the East Bloc with special attention given to the lives of everyday East Germans

This was a long and kind of dry read, but also quite interesting. This is a bit of history I really hadn't known much about, and I liked learning about it. The author is a little bit biased toward the eastern perspective, but that's not surprising or off-putting. I think her perspective, including her bias, is actually beneficial and informative.
