It feels like a YA book that I want read to me by an English man. It's ok.

I wanted this to be a fun and silly break from more serious reading, but it fell immensely short.

A lovely read

This book was the comforting read I needed when I was going through a rough time.

I can't wait to read the next one.

I learned of this book because of an ad on Facebook - an older lady, a knitter and cat lover, goes on an adventure basically. I was hoping for something along the lines of Mrs Pollifax, but it was much more of fantasy book a la Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings, but not nearly as good. I probably won't read the next book, despite the cliffhanger ending.

Though the names are skip-jigging fun (including the author's), the text isn't.

I can't stand the narrator - the inflection at the end of sentences make it sound like she's surprised the sentence ended.

The story so far was kind of meh. It's only available as an audiobook from my library, and the story wasn't written well enough/gripping enough for me to want to spend any money on it to continue.

This was... fun.
Is it well written literary genius? No. There is a few flaws.
But is it light, easy to read, doesn't require a lot of thought fun? Yes.

The story and the characters were good but the writing left much to be desired. There was too much description and the writing wasn't easy to follow so I was unable to picture things in my mind while I read. The author blurb indicates that this author writes books in 7-10 days and I feel that if more time was taken, this book would have been better. I received this book and its sequel as a gift so will read the next book as well and hope the writing improves.
