Just like the other books in this series, this book was such a page turner and there were plot twists at every corner. All the characters had really good writing and Laia’s trauma from being betrayed by the Nightbringer still haunts her even in this book. Both the internal and external conflicts felt very real and you could easily sympathize with even evil people like Marcus. All three of the main characters go through so much and they have to make super tough decisions that could bring the end of the world, especially The Blood Shrike, so it would make sense if they were unlikable characters.

I really love this series, but I hope the fourth book is better than this. I did not like what became of Elias, and Helene definitely became the main focus of the plot. I wasn’t constantly motivated to keep reading it, but I got there eventually. I can’t wait to read the final book in the series. I think it will wrap everything up nicely and (hopefully) it will bring together a couple of ships iykyk 😉 P.S. rage rant in the spoiler
WHO LET ELIAS DITCH LAIA LIKE THAT??? LIKE WHAT?!?! BUT IM SO IN LOVE WITH HELITAS (HEL AND AVITAS HARPER)!!!! ISTG IF HE DIES I WILL JUMP OFF A CLIFF. AND COOK BEING THE LIONESS MADE ME SCREAM.

In this installment, I loved Helene's storyline the most. Her character developed so much in comparison to the first book. Besides that, it just was the most interesting and suspenseful.
Elias' storyline, however, I didn't like at all. I just couldn't find myself being invested in it.
The whole book I was waiting for them to figure out a way for Elias to not be the Soul Catcher. They didn't but I really freaking hope that they will in the next book. I'm not mentally prepared for anything else.

Therefore, I nocked 0.25 points off my rating.

Other than that, I again was a huge fan of Tahir's writing style and I loved that she took the conflict that's been building up a notch further. I can't wait to see how everything will be resolved in the next - and last - book.
