This is not one of Mankell's mysteries. It probably has limited appeal but I liked it - or perhaps "liked it" isn't the right way to put it; rather, it was a compelling book to read.

The main character is over 65 - this adds something as far as I'm concerned. Old(er) people can also have a life, so to speak.

A wry, humorous and touching novel about introspection, loneliness and the righting of wrongs. As endearing a central character as Wallander but with more of a focus on human relationships in a style that reminded me of Tove Jansson's True Deceiver. Well worth reading, whether or not you enjoy the Wallander books for which Henning Mankell is famous.

Qu'est-ce que je me suis ennuyée...
Je vais tenter sa saga Wallander parce qu'avec celui-là, c'était une sacrée déception.

Loved it. Identified a lot with the main character. Appreciated being able to know his innermost thoughts and thinking.
