I have the hardest time finishing a series, especially one that I love so much.

I've been with Laurel since the very beginning, when the first book, WINGS, was just published. I love everything about it, the writing style, the characters, the dialogue, and the plot. The last installment of this series did not disappoint.

DESTINED was just as amazing as the first three books in the series, if not better. It has definitely become my favorite between the four of them.

We start off right where the last book left off. I felt like this was very nice as I was quickly thrust right back into the action. In fact, this was the most action packed book in the series and I was quite pleased with how well Aprilynne Pike described the fight scenes. They didn't seem forced and they had just the right amount of imagery to not be overwhelming.

The writing was, as usual, amazing. She has a fairly simplistic yet lyrical style of writing that I find very engaging. I don't feel as though I'm reading, instead I feel like I'm right there with all the characters in the books, fighting next to them and discovering secrets along the way.

The characters were all very nice in this book as well. I loved comparing Laurel in this book to her character in the first book. She's grown so much and matured as a character. I feel as though I've watched someone I know grow up. I love the natural progression of her and Tamani's relationship and her and David's relationship throughout the entire series. And, to say I was pleased with who she ended up with would be an understatement. I've love her and him since the beginning.

I'm not ashamed to admit that when I read the last page of this book, I was sobbing. I really didn't want it to end. I've been with this series so long, waited for each one of those books, and gone through the emotional turmoil with all the characters that it seems very surreal that it's all over.

Ahh there were parts of this book that had me really nervous, but I am happy with the ending. This was a pretty intense final book, since it was basically the fight to save Avalon. I thought it was a pretty big fight and it was epic to see the role that David played in it. There were some crazy twists & turns during the fight that definitely left me biting my nails. It was great to see the parts that all the characters played throughout the fight. There isn't much more I can say without ruining anything, but like I said I was happy/satisfied with the ending and I have really enjoyed the series.

I liked that Laurel didn't back down in this book and did whatever she could to help during the fight. I felt kind of bad for Chelsea because she didn't have a lot to do in this book and her love life situation kind of sucked. David really stepped up in this book and his part in the fight was awesome, however the ending was bittersweet. I did love the little bit that Pike added at the end as a future glimpse, that was great to read. Then there is Tamani, who I have loved from the beginning. He was pretty BA in the fight and I loved getting to see more of his thoughts. I think he is so adorable and I loved how he sees Laurel and how important she is to him, he is very sweet.

Overall I have really enjoyed this series and this book didn't disappoint. I would recommend this series!

Bittersweet ending to this amazing series...there is a definite opening for another series to take place later when Yasmine is older...would be sooooo cool if this happened. Great series!!

GoodReads Synopsis: Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and Klea plans to use her to help conquer and destroy Avalon. But Klea's reach extends far beyond one wild Winter faerie. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares to face what may be Avalon's final days, in the stunning conclusion to the Wings series.

My Thoughts: This was a great conclusion to the Wings saga! There was even a bonus alternate ending. But I thought the ending as written was the better, more appropriate one, of the two.

This book was the final battle…kind of a winner takes over Avalon. While I’m not a fan of the epic battle scenes…this one was good because it was broken up. Sometimes characters went in search of something, while others battled on. So it wasn’t all slicing and dicing.

I really enjoyed the Arthurian elements that were brought in to aid the battle. That was another element that made the battle more exciting.

Pike did a great job of neatly tying up the loose ends, while keeping the pace fast and gut wrenching. I am sad to see this series come to an end…I really enjoyed Laurel, Tamani, and David. I wouldn’t be heartbroken if Pike decided to visit them again at a later date, but after the alternate ending, I don’t think she will.

A stunning series, a happy-ending for two, but a heart-breaking ending for another two.

I'm not exactly sure what I liked about this series before. That's happened with many young adult books that I read last year and the year before. I think it's because I read so many adult series more recently and I see way too many flaws with the characters and the stories lately.

This was the final book of this series and it disappointed me a bit. Laurel is pretty much completely useless throughout the whole book. It's ridiculous that she let her friends come with her into faerie. When they did get to faerie and the war began, Laurel was mostly in the way or running away. In regards to her human friends, it's one thing if they went to the gate and then Jameson demanded they come. But her friends didn't know what they were getting into and they should have stayed back so that she didn't have to worry about them.

After all that Klea had done, there were opportunities when they could have killed her but it didn't happen. Tamani ended up having a few perfect chances to kill Klea but Laurel stopped him. The reason being that Laurel wanted answers to why Klea did what she did. Most villains have the same goals: rule the world, kill you all because you're in my way, and rule the world. That's the main point. And Tam had the perfect opportunity to kill her. Laurel couldn't really do anything until the very end after Klea poisoned everyone because they didn't kill her first. Klea played everyone which I feel makes most of them not too bright for not realizing certain things earlier before so many people died. It's like I just want all the villains to die or everyone who makes a mistake but Klea would have never stopped and Uki made way too many mistakes. I was satisfied with the ending but not so much with the book as a whole.
