A nice wrap up to main storyline. I like how most of the magic was wrapped up. I would have liked more of the politics wrapped up but I hear there is another book.
Ahhh, I loved it...I really hated for it to end but I loved it. This series was something I just fell into...had the first one for free and had read so many bad reviews but it was perfect and the actual ending (David's note) was perfect...it was sad but tied everything up. I loved it...can you tell I loved it. :)
The perfect ending. I loved it. My only complaint was quite a few parts in the middle were downright slow. It probably could've been written with two-thirds the pages, BUT the things that were important were VERY important. I really quite enjoyed the beginning third and the last third of the book.
It may seem unfair to review a book when the reader has not read the earlier pieces, however I have enjoyed reading other series out of order, and my expectation is that Destined would be an enjoyable book even if I did need to play a little catch-up.
And, Destined did have a promising start: A dangerous winter fairy is encased in a ring of salt, Avalon is in danger, mortals and fairies don't mix/mortals are the only ones who can save them.
and trolls?
I was prepared to take this story with a hefty grain of salt (and apparently internet criticism), but I found myself struggling to enjoy the book. The content seemed entirely devoted to dialogue, discussing a myriad of characters who obviously had more depth in previous books, but in this one weren't doing a heck of alot.
Swallowing the gaps in my knowledge, I still felt If this was a movie finale you couldn't get away with having the actors out of costume and on a blank set.
Most of the early plot (aside from aforementioned dialogue), revolves around the mass slaughter of trolls, and picks up slightly (unless you really dig the mass killings of trolls) when the genocidal antagonist poisons all fairydom.
Pike does redeem the book in my eyes by throwing in an decent pseudo- ending, but mutes this by placing an author's note before it happens. Ultimately its the journey that counts, and unfortunately a good destination won't fix an unpleasant trip.

After the cliffhanger in Illusions I knew that Destined was going to be a wild ride. I was not disappointed! It is full of action, adventure, love, friendship, betrayal and more! Destined is the perfect ending to the series. I also think it's the best book in the series. I loved every minute of it!! Bravo Aprilynne!!
Amazing final book! Action packed from beginning to end. Most unique ending to any series I have ever read. LOVED IT!!!
3,5.
Oh David, me gustaste y T-T.

OKay! what the hell, She (author) didn't have to do that. The least she could do is give everyone the HAPPY ending they deserved! but no! she had to take that away too!
I didn't like this series, but I never hated it until the letter! I am very sorry, but there has to be an unspoken law about making a horrible story and making an even more horrible ending to it!
I can't, and I mean it, CAN'T put to words how this story disappointed me in every way possible.
(skip it)
again, it's just my opinion, read it if you want.
