This was such a wonderfully beautiful, yet heart-wrenching memoir. I deeply admire the grace and honesty with which Jill and Derek have faced various challenges and continue to seek reconciliation with their family. This story is a picture of the healing work that God can do even through heartache. Such a great read. Highly recommend!

Note: I find it difficult to rate memoirs, especially the ones recounting abuse. Specifically, because I'm very aware of how vulnerable you have to be and how cathartic it must be for the author. The rating is for myself only.

As a TLC girl, I had to read this book because I would catching 19 kids and counting every now and then even though it would make me sad. Hearing Jill’s perspective was so eye-opening because you hear how explorative their dad was and the mental pigeon-hole the dad had all the kids in.
