I really enjoyed this! It was cute and exciting and an interesting world with an interesting mystery unfolding. Did I think it was realistic that the deadliest assassin in history would be snuck up on so many times by her guard and friends? No. Did I think it was realistic that
the assassin and the prince would even want to associate with each other after the things they or their families have done?
No. But I really enjoyed it anyway. The characters are so endearing, the young romance is so sweet and nostalgic, and the action was exciting. I thought the ending where
she calls the relationship off with the prince was abrupt and a weird choice to do so suddenly at the end
but hopefully the next book will make it obvious why, idk?

Im very confused still about the magic in the word but also completely hooked what is about to happen next. I really like the friendship with Nehemiah and also the romantic aspects with Dorian and Chaol. Very excited for the next book.

I feel as if this one has the same issue book 1 of ACOTAR has: 75% set up and 25% payoff. And even though I really enjoyed those last 25%, it was a bit of a struggle up until then. Knowing Maas by now, I also feel myself being wary of getting too attached to someone, scared they might die. But that's a me problem, not book problem, lol.

Jumping in to book 2 right away!
