How do you kill a prince with supernatural protection? This is the question Marra must ask herself after learning that her sister is being abused by said prince. Luckily, on the road to the kingdom, she finds friends who can help her.

Nettle & Bone is whimsy and spooky, with wholesome characters set in a ruthless world. Throw in a heist plot and a found family, and I have no other choice but to recommend everyone to read the book.

Love the cast, very charming and each has their unique personality and their actions felt believable. I think the romance is a little underdeveloped so I'm a little unconvinced by them. I wish there would've been more focus on the magic of this world since I enjoyed it a lot. I also thought the book would've had a darker tone since that's what the tone of the first few chapters was like and I especially enjoyed those. Overall, a little underwhelmed by this book.

This was a really unique story and narration. I loved the atmosphere of the book and the narrator helped a lot with that too. She blew it away. For me, she is the best narrator this year of the books I have listened to. Each character had their own voice and she really lived the characters and the story. I will definitely remember her. I will also remember the author. She did a good job too.
But there was only one thing that didn't convince me. The age of the protagonist. It cannot be that a 30 year old woman thinks and acts the way she did. In my head she was 20 years old and so I could enjoy her and the story. I mean, I like her. She's also a unique protagonist, but it wasn't really believable that she was 30 years old and it wasn't really necessary to mention the age at all.

But in general I would recommend this story, just ignore the age of the characters.

Ah, I really wanted to enjoy this more than I did. I love a adventure quest type story. And maybe this would've been great, but first of it starts of a lot darker and in a completely different setting than the entire rest of the book. I was very confused for a lot of pages, when we just never revisited the setting in the beginning. That part seemed utterly pointless.

But the main reason this book doesn't reach it's potential is that the female lead Marra sucks. She comes across as a typical "born yesterday" trope character. I got the impression initially she was supposed to be a "normal adult" response to YA protagonists, but instead she was just a 30 year old child.

I don't know if it's because of the audiobook but I really didn't enjoy this book. I didn't really like any of the characters and the plot was really poor I didn't even care when they managed to do whatever it is they wanted to do. It had an interesting premise and I felt like I was let down.

Good story but felt like it was for a young audience. Not enough character development, emotionality, or world-building to feel fulfilled with any of them in my opinion.
