A really solid read! It goes into some tough topics and complicated teen dynamics in a way that doesn't read as either overplayed for the drama or not serious enough-- it very much read as the sort of forced casual you're stuck with as a teen when both trying to downplay and deal with something new and possibly irl-dangerous. I enjoyed it even if the setting felt ever-so-slightly-off as a read in a setting I mostly remember. A sturdy book about teen dynamics in a period setting, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a realistic teen graphic read.

Set in the 00’s Liv and her mom move to a new town where Liv, a bisexual goth, finds herself navigating high school, friendships, mixed signals, unwelcome attention, and the safety of the mall. Liv receives support from her English teacher and develops feelings for a fellow goth friend. Things get messy and dark as Liv finds herself in uncomfortable situations though it was handled well. Though some parts could be developed further, I still appreciated the message of this story.
