i’m tired of one-dimensional female characters who are basically just sex objects, even if it was intentionally written that way to prove a point or something? also i don’t know if it was this specific translation, but the writing was a bit janky and weird and i just did not understand the thoughts or behaviour of the protagonist at all. he was just really strange and unlikeable, and not in an interesting way. i did enjoy the sand metaphors and the general existential vibes though. aren’t we all being held hostage at the bottom of a sand pit and just desperately trying to stay afloat?
Beautiful writing style, really interesting themes, but hard to look past the very obvious male perspective, which actually came across as quite perverse.
