An action-packed thriller. I started with a book later in the series, got hooked, and decided to go back to the beginning. The author definitely got better as he went deeper into the series. The plot in this book never stopped moving, which was amazing. But the characters were who they were and never changed, so little character growth.

There was one small thing that bothered me throughout: in the beginning the main character said he didn't own a cell phone because he didn't want to be tracked. Fair enough. But then later when he got ahold of a cell phone, he knew the ins and outs of that new-to-him phone as if he'd gotten a degree in covert phone operations. Hm. I get it, Eddie Flynn is a badass con artist, but he's got to have some shortcomings occasionally.

4.5/5 🌟
This book was absolutely wild!
Eddie Flynn hasn’t practiced law in a year, not since his last case sent him in a downward spiral. But when the leader of the Russian mob kidnaps his daughter he has no choice but to go back to court and try to get his case thrown out to save his daughter.
Eddie is such an interesting main character. He’s a con man turned lawyer who isn’t afraid to bend the rules. His former life as a con man gives him some insight into the human mind and helps him figure out when people are lying or trying to be deceitful. It’s what makes him such a great lawyer.
The case itself was insane! And Eddie is such a fantastic lawyer that you have to be so careful what you say and how you say it with him in a courtroom because he will turn it around in you in a heartbeat.
I highly recommend giving this series a read! The books can be read in any order!

My first Steve Cavanagh book and what a ride it was. Great court room novel, full of suspense. Easy 4 1/2 stars.
Not 5 stars for me as I found all that was happening to Eddie a bit much over such a short time, but a great read. Ordered the second one in the series.

Legal thriller with a difference. An ex-conman turned ex-lawyer at the center of a legal thriller? Yes, you got it. Eddie Flynn is a totally likable protagonist. Sharp fingers and sharp mind to go with them. He's put in an impossible situation, a bomb vest put on him and asked to kill a star witness at a trial. Soon he discovers a lot going on behind the scenes and has to fight with his back to the wall to save his daughter's life and his own.
